I received a rather suspicious call claiming that there was an issue with my BT router. They mentioned they could resolve it remotely, provided I downloaded the TeamViewer application from the Google Play Store. They promised to send me a new router to address what they described as my ongoing issue with inconsistent internet speeds. Strangely, they also mentioned that due to these problems, I was entitled to a refund of my direct debit payments to BT and asked for my banking details. Naturally, I refused to provide them with that information. I pointed out that any refund owed to me could simply be processed through direct debit, which they should already have on file. I subsequently ended the call. Predictably, no new router ever arrived. To top it all off, I've been grappling with fluctuating download speeds, varying dramatically between 1 Mbps and 72 Mbps.

Somebody rang saying they were from Amazon about a package from Australia worth £1300, asking if I wanted to cancel it. They told me to press 1 to confirm. Suspecting it was a con, I pressed it just to chat with them. A woman with an Indian accent said she worked for Amazon in London but couldn't say exactly where. When I asked her to give me my postcode, she started swearing at me, and then her so-called supervisor joined in calling me names. I just told them they’re total scam artists.

Got a call from 01138245384, a lady spoke with a kind of foreign British accent and claimed she was from Open Reach. She asked how I was doing after saying that, so I told her Open Reach was fine as my phone was working okay (even though I actually answered a call without ID because my BT Graphite DECT phone battery’s been playing up). Then she said my router was having problems. I asked her if she could name my router’s make and model. She guessed “Sky,” so I replied "Wrong guess!" and she just hung up on me! Bit awkward for her, really!

Got a recorded call from a guy who sounded quite polite, saying he was from Amazon. He told me my account was locked because of a dodgy purchase of over £1,000 and asked me to press 1 or 2 to report it. Seemed quite legit but it was definitely a SCAM. Just hung up straight away. Wish BT did more to stop these scammers using their lines.

Got a voicemail claiming it was Amazon, saying there was a dodgy transaction over a grand on my account linked to my card, and that my account was locked. They told me to press 1 to fix it. This is the fourth dodgy call today, all from different numbers and with different stories - one pretending to be Sky, another Microsoft, and one I just straight up blocked.

Definitely sounds like a dodgy Amazon scam. They’re saying there’s been a payment of £700 or something like that, but it’s total rubbish.

Got a call from this number, but my phone showed it was international, so I just hung up and blocked it.

Got a call from some car company about weird stuff happening on an iPhone 11 pro account, saying an order was stopped. I never made an order ‘cause I don’t even like iPhones. Blocked the number but they somehow still get through. They ring like every couple of hours. My elderly mum is getting really stressed out by it all.

Got a call from 01138245384 at about 2:25 pm on 22/10/21. It was a recorded message, spoken clearly, saying something about Amazon spotting suspicious activity on my account. They mentioned an amount of £700 and said the order was put on hold. The recording then told me to press 1 if I wanted to know more.

Got a robo call from this number. Unlike the other reports I've seen about it being some Amazon scam, this one said our internet was getting disconnected because of some “illegal activity.” They told me to press 1 to talk to someone. Got a call from some dude with a heavy Asian accent, his English was pretty terrible. Said he was from BT and warned me there was illegal stuff going on with my internet. He even threatened to cut off my service if I didn’t sort it out. I just hung up straight away.

These calls keep coming at me like 2 or 3 times every week. Totally a scam, don’t fall for it!
