I got a call from a lady saying she was a ‘local energy advisor’. She insisted that my attic’s loft insulation was unsafe. When I asked how she even knew what was up there, she just hung up. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

On the third try, she just said something totally irrelevant to my question. Plus, there were these awkward pauses after I spoke before she replied, so it was obvious it was some sort of automated system using pre-recorded lines.

Complete nonsense from a lady claiming there’s fibreglass in my roof. She falsely stated that my address appeared on some database indicating there was fibreglass present. I can assure you she's fibbing, as for one, I have a thatched roof, and for another, I'm well-versed in working with fibreglass and resin thanks to my boat repairs. There's absolutely none of that material up there!

22/05/23 I received a call from a woman claiming they had discovered an issue with the insulation in my attic, offering it as a complimentary service. She sought my consent and promised to ring back in thirty minutes to arrange a visit. She inquired whether I owned the property and if the loft was straightforward to access. Instinctively, I recognised this as a ruse and promptly hung up. It’s quite reminiscent of a similar con I encountered last year, where they also asked if I lived by myself. The real deceit occurs when these scammers visit the homes of vulnerable individuals, inspect the loft and pressure them into paying on the spot for supposed insulation defects…
