Got a call from someone with a Yorkshire twang, chatting about the National Lottery and saying I’d get 10 free tickets sent through the post. They already had most of my address sorted, which was a bit unsettling. Also mentioned some summer deal where tickets would cost just 5p each - I couldn’t help but laugh, sounded way too good to be true. Was on the line for just over two minutes. Feels dodgy to me - is this some kind of scam? Should I worry about my phone being hacked?

Today, I received a rather puzzling phone call from a chap with a thick Indian accent, who questioned whether I was aware of any tax evasion on my part. Without a second thought, I informed him that I had no doubts about his affiliation and promptly ended the conversation. Having encountered similar scams before, I recognised the ruse straight away.

Kept on going about how it’s all over the radio, telly, and papers. That’s when I just ended the call and blocked him straight away.

I’ve got a great little trick to mess with those scam callers. Whenever they ring, I ask if they’re religious or if they believe in God - they nearly always say yes. Then I hit them with questions about how they justify lying and stealing, especially from older folks, and what they reckon will happen to them in Hell.
