They keep ringing me but as soon as I pick up, they just hang up. I can hear voices like a call centre in the background, with people talking and stuff.

I got a call where the lady tried to verify my name, which she already had. I refused to confirm and asked what the call was about. She claimed to be from the pensions department. I asked which firm, as I don’t have a pension. She said it didn't matter and mentioned something about the FSA and government. Then she wanted to know if I was under 59. I wouldn’t say. When asked why, I told her I didn’t know who she was. She asked me to let her finish the call. I told her “sure, go ahead”. After about 30 seconds of silence, she just hung up.

I ended up speaking to a woman using this number. Seems like they’re part of some cold calling company based overseas. The woman I chatted with was Filipino. She attempted to get me to share details about my pension, claiming there was some mandatory FCA pension update for everyone. Since I work with pensions myself, I knew that wasn’t right. After having a bit of fun winding her up, I told her that what she’s doing should be banned in a couple of days in the Autumn Statement by Phillip Hammond. Let’s hope so anyway.

Just had a ring from this number. Didn’t answer since I had no clue who it was, so I quickly checked this site to see if anyone else had reported it. After my phone stopped ringing, I found a voicemail - which normally means it’s something legit or someone I know. I’ve told them ‘NO’ like three times already, but they just hang up straight after I say it - so frustrating when they do that. Got a call from someone saying they were from the Corporate Insurance Bureau. She mentioned being in the Philippines but that the company had offices in Manchester. So why was the number from Leeds? She talked so fast with loads of background noise, I kept saying “Sorry?” and had to ask her to repeat herself, which seemed to annoy her a bit. This rather squeaky-voiced individual sounded as though she was phoning in from abroad, and yet she was using a Leeds phone number, how bizarre! Typically, these "road accident" calls originate from a Slough area code (01753), and I’m beginning to compile a little roster of these numpties. The latest one was trying to pull a "pension" con on me, inquiring if I was under 59, which immediately raised my suspicions. I thought to myself, anyone from a legitimate pension service would already have all my pertinent details, such as my name, age, and other bits and bobs, without needing to ask! I told her rather firmly that I was well aware this was a scam and suggested she do one - and that was me being quite civilised under the circumstances. Next time, I won’t be so restrained!

Then they rang back just a few moments later, same deal but this time a bloke with an Indian accent said he was from "National Comparison". I just said, "Alright, byeeeeeee" and hung up. Haven't had another call since (at least not yet).

They ring up sayin they need to update details about your pension plan, but really they havent got a clue about any of your info, just taking wild guesses. Seems like they want to switch your pension over or something. Total scam if you ask me.

I picked up the phone and all I could hear was silence for about 8 seconds. Then suddenly, a lady's voice came on, saying goodbye in the creepiest way possible. It totally freaked me out.

This number rang me too, and just like others have said, there was nothing but silence at first and then a lady said "goodbye". With so many folks mentioning calls like this, I reckon it's high time the phone companies stepped up and told us who these people are so we can pursue some kind of legal steps. If they caught just one of these annoying callers, maybe the rest would think twice before bothering us.
