I got a call at work where the person wanted to talk to my manager, even knew her name. When I tried to find out who they were and what it was about, they said they were "Emma" from "IBT" and that it was private. Then, just like that, they ended the call on me!

Loads of calls lately have come from hidden numbers, and this one fits the pattern. Clever lot using 0113 447 0098 then switching to 01269 849868. I reckon they got their data from Market Locations; their main office is in Leamington Spa on 0800 211 8912 and the call centre’s out in Sutton Coldfield. I’ve added this number to a pile of 21 others just this week, and the weekend isn’t even here yet…

I got a missed call from them so I did the 1471 to check who it was and then rang back. When I called, they put me on hold for a bit then said I’d be connected to the next free agent. The moment someone picked up, without me saying a word, they asked for our company director by name, clearly knowing who I was and what firm I was with. Felt really dodgy to me.

Whenever I’m unsure, I look up the number here. Got caught out once last year by a dodgy ad pretending to be Emergency Services - total scam, but I lost the number. Then this other woman pipes up saying she’s not trying to sell me anything, which was clearly not true. Next thing, she accuses me of being rude and just drops the call.
