They claimed to be from 118 and wanted info linked to my phone line. Obviously had no clue who I was or what I did. Definitely trying to collect my info to sell on. They told me to ring 0800 211 8439. When I asked how they got my number, they just said "lots of sources". Pretty clear it’s a scam to gather data.

Received a call purporting to be from 118118 regarding listing my business. The chap was relentless, probing with a myriad of questions as if he were compiling a comprehensive data entry for a directory. He had this Alan Carr-esque way of speaking, all chirpy and cheerful!
I’ve got to say, it's definitely dodgy... stay vigilant. While it all seems credible on the surface, I reckon the info he had might have come from the electoral roll or something similar.

They rang me when I wasn’t home. I looked up who it was and found some useful info that made me decide not to call back.

I picked up the phone, but there was complete silence. All I could hear was someone breathing on the other end.

A woman with a proper English accent rang up saying it was about upgrading something linked to our phone. Right away, she launched into some scripted spiel and was pretty vague about the reason for the call. It felt strange because about 20 minutes earlier, I’d gotten almost the exact same call from another number. I just hung up in the end.

Phone rang, guy said he needed to ‘update’ something but I wasn’t really following. Then he asked if this was a business number, I told him no it’s not. After that he said sorry and just ended the call.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I looked up the number to be sure and from what you lot have said, I’d say that caller sounds pretty dodgy. Seriously, can’t BT or anyone do something to stop these annoying pests?

I got a phone call from an Asian guy speaking English. He said he was ringing to update info for something called "Yell Business" in the Directory Enquiries. I just ended the call right away.

Got a call, first thing I heard was some weird sort of background noise, felt like one of those scam calls right away. Then a lady with a proper English accent started rambling about a 118 directory or something, sounded like she was just reading off a script. I just ended the call. Makes me wonder if they reckon they've done a great job at work that day or what.

I’ve been informed it’s a Thomson Local directory, essentially a phone book for businesses. Not certain if that’s of any assistance, though!

My phone kept buzzing off a few times but they never left a voice message on my answerphone, so I can’t really say who rang. I’m guessing it was one of those automated calls - if it was someone legit, they’d have said something. For me, this feels like harassment and I’m not happy about it.

Got a call from someone saying they were from 118, wanting to "update my free business listing" which is weird since we dont even have one. I just ended the call and blocked the number. After reading other reviews, it looks like these folks keep switching names, so I'm guessing its just spam.

I received a ring from a withheld number, purporting to represent 118118, trying to peddle advertising space for my company. The bizarre part? They had absolutely no clue about my business, and to top it off, I don’t even use the number they rang me on for any professional matters. Quite the strange encounter, I must say!

Has anyone picked up from this number? I got a couple of missed calls from it, seems like it might be a telemarketer or some automated system checking numbers. I never pick up unknown calls and they didn’t leave any message. I've been searching online to find out more, but haven’t found anything useful yet. Anyone know who it could be?

01134292067 has reached out to me two times today, but I’ve chosen not to answer since it’s not a number I'm familiar with. Strangely, they haven’t left behind any voicemails either. I’m rather convinced it’s probably a dodgy scam, so I’ll be adding it to my block list.
