My mum’s been getting loads of calls from someone pretending to be from Sky, saying that a three-year Sky protection plan costs £120. They keep nagging her to give her card details, so she just ends the call. Even after that, they keep ringing again and again. I’ve now had to block the number on our landline to stop it. It’s really awful how these pest callers have nothing better to do than bother and pressure older folks, especially when they’re so vulnerable.

I got tricked into paying £130 for satellite insurance, then a few weeks later, I got a call from a woman about renewing washing machine insurance. I told her no chance, the machine’s ages old and I’m just getting a new one, then hung up. To my surprise, only a couple of weeks later, they’d taken £195 out of my account. The paperwork was sent to my neighbour’s place by mistake - it had her address on it and she'd been away for a while. Now I keep getting calls and I’m ignoring them, letting the answerphone pick up. The paperwork looked proper legit though.

Got a call from some bloke who said his name was “Daniel” to my 92 year old Dad, saying it was about his Sky stuff. Thing is, Dad doesn’t even have Sky! What freaked me out was he knew my Dad’s full name and where he lives. Definitely looks like a dodgy scam and really scary that someone’s after my old Dad like that.

Yesterday I got a call from someone claiming to be Sky. They tried to say because my Sky stuff never broke, they’d do me a deal on insurance - 3 years for £150 instead of paying £100 every year. They asked for my bank details but I refused and ended the call. After seeing what others have said here, I’m certain now it was just a scam.

Got a phone call from this number earlier, a bloke named Simon James claiming he was from National Maintenance Group UK Covered. He asked about my Sky box, insurance, and maintenance. What made me uneasy was he didn’t outright ask for my bank info, but he did want me to verify my name on the card, the first four digits, and my bank’s name. Honestly, I’m kicking myself now, thinking I might’ve been daft to give that much info. I’m going to report this to my bank as a possible scam and I’m avoiding picking up any calls from this number again.

Got a call from a woman claiming she was part of some maintenance crew, saying I hadn’t made an insurance claim yet. I asked what insurance she was talking about but she just wouldn’t say. Oh gosh, I really got caught out by this. A woman named Christine rang me and mentioned some digits from my bank details, but she never asked for the full info or the three security numbers on my card. I genuinely thought it was legit since I was expecting a call about renewing my Sky subscription. I feel so daft now. Luckily, nothing's been taken yet. Can anyone tell me how to block this? I received a call from someone who didn’t identify the company they were representing. They launched into a long-winded pitch about providing a discount on a three-year television coverage policy, claiming it was possible because I hadn't submitted any claims. I was caught off guard, as I was entirely unaware of an additional insurance policy for my Sky equipment. He quoted £120 annually, which I had already assumed was part of my existing £10 monthly payment. To top it off, I got a follow-up call from 01625 683 178, where they asked for payment yet abruptly hung up when my son took over the conversation to seek clarification about this so-called "policy." It certainly raises suspicions; it seems highly likely to be a scam.
