I’ve had a natter with someone who rang me from a call centre based in Leeds, and I must say, they’re nothing but a dodgy telemarketer trying to pull a fast one.

Twice I’ve let this call go to voicemail. Someone at my phone company mentioned that if you pick up, it confirms your number is active and they might sell it to others!

I picked up and the person on the line asked for me using my old surname, which I haven’t gone by in like six years, then they just dropped the call. Sounds like one of those annoying nuisance calls to me.

Got a call asking if I owned the place and said it was about some energy efficiency check. These marketing calls are such a pain.

Complete con, claiming to be from "bank ppi" saying they had recovered £2550 plus £1550 interest for me. When I asked the name of my bank, I said "bank of paris" which isn't real. They didn't pick up on it. Then they gave me some reference and ID numbers, saying they wouldn’t ask for bank or card info and that the money was in some “wallet”. After that, they passed me onto another person with an Asian accent. This new caller asked for the ID and ref numbers again, but I gave wrong ones just to mess with him. He got confused and then asked for my phone number to "check" the numbers. Next, he gave me different ID and ref numbers and said those were the right ones. He then told me I wasn’t tech-savvy and offered to help me get into the “wallet”. He told me to put my phone on loudspeaker and go to the Play Store to download an app called AnyDesk, which he could use to control my phone remotely and steal sensitive info like bank details and passwords. These scammers are a nightmare and should be stopped. I’m reporting them to gov.org/phishing, local police phishing unit, and the financial conduct authority.

This number kept ringing repeatedly, so I finally had to block it. Every time I picked up, there was silence after a couple of rings and then the line just dropped. I've been getting loads of calls from numbers like this over the last few days and ended up blocking them all.

I didn’t pick up and there was no voicemail either, so I’m guessing it was just a nuisance call.
