This number has been ringing me every week asking for my father-in-law who passed away more than 15 years ago. They were dead set on talking to him, so I told them to find a decent Medium instead. I've had this number ringing me non stop saying they're from some "Windows support" and that there's a problem with my computer. I told them I'm an IT specialist, so they soon stopped trying, but honestly these fraudsters should be stopped, they’re clearly up to no good. If I hadn’t known about this kind of scam, who knows, they might have managed to get ransomware onto my machine. Seriously, they need to be taken offline!

This number has called me several times everyday. The first time I picked up, there was nothing but silence, so I stopped answering. However, I decided to answer again today. The caller, who had an Indian accent, claimed he was from Windows support and said my computer was sending out harmful data that could completely wreck it. He then asked me to type in some commands on my keyboard, which made me suspicious right away. When I questioned him about it, he got quite rude and even called me "stupid." That’s when I ended the call. Honestly, I feel dumb for almost falling for this, so I checked with Microsoft support, and the tech confirmed it’s a known scam. Got calls from some bloke claiming he was from Microsoft and Windows, trying to convince me to let him control my PC remotely. When I said no, he got quite hostile and rude. After having a quick look online, it turns out that neither Microsoft nor Windows ever contact people out of the blue like that! My mum’s been getting calls from the same number too, claiming to be from Virgin Media, BT and TalkTalk, but none of those companies have any clue about this guy. I’m 100% sure it’s a scam. He’s even started ringing really early in the morning, and worse, he tried the same trick on my daughters, who are just 12 and 16, trying to get into their computers. It’s gone way past annoying now.

He said he was from Microsoft or something and weirdly knew I use a Windows PC. He even mentioned that if I switched it on, he could mess with my internet to show there’s an issue. I read somewhere that they can do this by blocking the phone line or something like that. When I told him to take me off their list, he flat out refused and said he’d keep calling me every single day! And get this - after I ended the call, he rang straight back again! Looks like they’re a firm based in Leeds (0113), but why they think I want to take their calls is beyond me.

Don't they get that some people have disabilities or irregular work hours and really hate getting these annoying calls? Most of us are signed up to the TPS and have unlisted numbers for this very reason.

Maybe they should take a hint before someone complains to the ICO.
