I reckon any scam texts, emails or calls should be reported straight away to Action Fraud, like someone else mentioned here (and don’t forget the NFIB too). Lots of folks find these calls either irritating or just a bit of a laugh, but others get downright frightened. Sadly, some people who are more vulnerable end up losing money because of them. If we want these nasty scams to stop, we gotta make sure every single one is reported. Honestly, it don’t take any longer than putting a post on here.

I got a voicemail from an automated voice warning me about legal trouble over supposed tax fraud. I called the number back just to check what was going on, and it turned out to be a scammer pretending to be from HMRC. They were trying to frighten me, saying they’d started legal proceedings because of unpaid tax. They demanded £4990 on the spot to sort it all out. The whole thing was pretty detailed, but luckily I played them at their own game and wasted their time. Definitely a scam - keep an eye out for these dodgy calls!

I keep getting these dodgy HMRC calls lately, probably tons of them over the last year. I put in a report on that Action Fraud site where they handle phishing stuff. The coppers do try to team up with overseas law enforcement to crack down on these scammers, but honestly, they don’t do enough considering how bad it is. Maybe it’s coz hardly anyone actually bothers to report these calls. I'll be sending a report to HMRC too like they suggest above.

I just got a robo call saying I had to ring Dennis at HMRC right away on 0113 322 7105. Total scam though, since HMRC never make you call back straight away like that without sending a proper letter first. Watch out folks!
