I’ve had a rather unsettling experience with a phone call that left me scratching my head. A person on the other end, with a quite heavy Asian accent, was asking for me directly. They kept going on about answering some ridiculous questions, assuring me it would only take "30 seconds" of my time. When they inquired if I read newspapers and I answered in the affirmative, they demanded a simple “yes or no,” which I found odd. At that point, I decided to hang up. What was even more disconcerting was the fact that this same individual called me again yesterday, this time from a different number. They not only mentioned my name but also had my address and postcode, which felt quite intrusive and potentially threatening. I've since blocked the number, but I’m now left wondering who I should inform about this rather suspicious and, frankly, alarming situation. Any advice on where to report such a scam would be greatly appreciated!

The only way they could’ve gotten the number is from O2 - I got a spare phone and haven’t even used it, but still keep getting missed calls. Why does O2 even hand out their numbers like that?

A lady with poor English called me asking for me by name, claiming she wanted to inform me about changes to the UK pension. I said I don’t talk about personal stuff on the phone and that she should send any info through the post if it’s really that urgent. She didn’t agree to send anything and kept trying to keep me on the line. I just hung up, blocked the number, and reported it.

All this pension advice rubbish, when will the authorities start fining the top bosses behind these numbers? Especially if they’re calling from abroad but using UK landlines. The BT CEO should be held accountable for letting their numbers be used for this kind of nonsense. He really ought to give us a proper explanation.

Just like others have said, I’ve been flooded with loads of annoying calls from strange numbers ever since I signed up with job agencies to find work. Before that, I never got scam calls at all. These callers are definitely dodgy, as are the supposed job agencies that trick job hunters by advertising jobs that likely don’t exist and then passing our info around to a bunch of random companies. If this isn’t illegal yet, it really ought to be!

Received a call claiming to be from UK pensions the other day. They insisted we’d had a chat last month about my pension plans and that I asked them to ring me back. Oddly enough, the chap had my address on hand. I told him I didn’t remember any such conversation and suggested that he send everything in writing to my home instead. He introduced himself as Daniel Brown, but his accent seemed quite different-perhaps from an Asian background. It’s rather unsettling how he managed to know my address.

Even with the fine now up to £500,000 for these annoying, nonstop calls, the idiots just dont stop ringing. Total muppets. = Blocked.

A company called UP Pensions called me, I'm not a native English speaker and I told them to stop contacting me but they just ignored my request.

I received a call from a chap at a call centre who was droning on about pensions. I asked him to take me off their list multiple times, but he just wouldn't let up. Eventually, I had to block the number entirely!

I've received a handful of missed calls from this number over the past few days. Today, I finally picked up, but to be honest, the conversation was a bit of a muddle. The person on the line claimed to be from UK Pensions. I quickly informed them that this was clearly a cold call, which is against the law, and I suspected it might be a scam. When I asked how they managed to get hold of my number, the bloke attempted to justify himself. I reiterated that this was an illegal and unwelcome call, and I intend to report this number for action.

Got a call from someone claiming to be about UK pensions, saying they had urgent updates about law changes. I told them I manage my own pension and would hear about any amendments through official letters. Then I politely told them to do one and not ring me back again.

I picked up the phone, and for a good five seconds, there was nothing but silence. Then, out of the blue, a bloke’s voice erupted on the line, practically yelling. Honestly, I couldn’t make head or tail of what he was saying-sounded like a bunch of kids pulling a fast one. I was so taken aback that I just ended the call straight away.

Got a call on my own phone, they were asking to speak to my mum. I’ve had this number for like 16 years now, and it’s never been linked to my mum in any way.

I received a call from some sort of call centre that clearly hadn’t bothered to learn my name correctly, nor did they seem to grasp proper English. They were all too eager to poke around my pension details, so I swiftly told them to take a hike. They've been blocked without a second thought!

I've requested multiple times for them to take my details off their list. Instead of complying, they become quite belligerent and simply refuse to do it.

This number rang me and I couldn’t make out much except something about UK Pensions. Seems pretty dodgy to me... I just told them to jog on!

This bloke phoned me and you could clearly hear a busy office in the background. He wanted to speak to my partner but when I asked who he was, he just cut me off. I've got loads of calls from this number before, but they mostly call me just as I get off a night shift, so I just ignore it.

I received a call from someone clearly in a call centre, requesting to speak to my partner. When I inquired about his identity, he abruptly ended the conversation.

Looked up the number and went through the comments. I've signed up on a couple of job websites recently and ended up getting loads of dodgy calls. Plus, I've been getting emails from 'job sites' I've never even heard of. Seems like someone’s passing around your details. Be careful about where you put your CV!

Oh great, here we go again. Who exactly is out there selling our phone numbers to these muppets? I got this brand new phone with a fresh number just for job hunting and enquiries. My old phone is strictly for personal stuff and stays that way. It’s gotta be one of those job agencies leaking info. This whole thing’s a nightmare. Honestly, I wish someone would just knock them all off the map.

I didn’t know the number so I checked it out. From what others have said, looks like it’s one of those pension con calls. I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

Got a call from this number, but I never pick up if I don’t know who’s calling anymore.

I swear, who on earth is giving out our phone numbers to these muppets? I got this brand new phone with a fresh number just for job hunting and stuff like that. My old phone stays private, no way I'm sharing that. It’s gotta be some dodgy job agent selling details or something. Really frustrating situation. Honestly, I just want someone to hit them hard and sort this mess out once and for all.
