Tried to get robbed by these scammers. I’ve blocked the number and told my phone company about it. I keep my answerphone on all day and on my mobile, any call goes straight to voicemail. Sometimes a scammer leaves a message asking me to ring them back. I look up the number on this site and if it’s flagged as a scam, I block and erase it straight away. I only pick up when I recognise the voice or know who it is. It’s a real nuisance, but luckily I haven’t fallen for anything yet.

It's really frustrating how many folks still get caught out by this, even though this scam has been going on for ages. These nasty callers keep making money from it, unfortunately coz they keep swapping their numbers. What scares me more is if you're waiting on a call, you just naturally pick up. I've blocked well over a dozen numbers pretending to be from HMRC and when you dig a bit, they come from either mobile firms or BT through some bulk buying. Why can't these companies use their tech to stop this nonsense?

He even mentioned my first name and went on about some records suggesting that I'm married, and how I could claim the marriage allowance. I informed him that I was well aware of that already. He maintained his politeness and subsequently ended the call. I've taken the liberty of reporting this number and the details of the alleged scam directly to HMRC for their investigation. I’ve a hunch they’re probably already in the loop about this number! Got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC today. Totally a scam, they tried to get my personal details. Be careful out there, folks!

Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC, and they actually knew my first name. Then they started asking if I was still married because apparently the HMRC records show me as married, but claiming no married tax credits (which is wrong, I've never been married). I told them to take my info off their system, and when I told the caller I was onto their scam, they just hung up immediately!

I got a call from someone wanting to talk to my dad who’s actually passed away recently. Even after I told them he’s gone, they kept interrupting me and wouldn’t stop. Proper gross behaviour, had to block the number straight away!

Got a call from a guy claiming he worked for some government program. He said their records showed I was married and asked if it was true. I told him I'm single, then the line just cut off.

Got a call from a bloke claiming he was with HMRC. He already knew my first name and asked if I was still married. I told him yes, then he wanted to know if I was claiming the married tax allowance. Suspecting it was a scam, I played along and said I was. After that, he said he’d take my details off their records and promised I wouldn’t get any more calls.

Got a call from a Leeds area code, 01133205614, and they somehow knew my first name. They said I was married, which is wrong 'cause I’ve never tied the knot. No idea where they pulled that from. These scammers really need to stop hassling people, we’ve all got enough stress without being threatened like this.

01133205614 just rang me and used my first name straight away. She said she was ringing about the Marriage Allowance and that she was from HRMC. I told her if I had to claim anything, I’d handle it myself and told her to stop wasting my time. This smells of a scam to me, like they want to gather your personal info. Can't be completely sure though.

This bloke started off by using my first name, saying he was aware I was married and wanted to discuss something about marriage allowances. I told him I’d actually lost my partner a few days prior and wasn’t interested in any sales calls right now. I reckon he felt proper awkward but, fair enough, he took my details off their list straight away.

Got a call from some Wyndham group lot, Leeds area code. They said something about me being able to claim the married allowance from HMRC and tried to confirm if I was still married. Thing is, I've never even been married! So, straight to block.
