Regarding the previous comment, what a muppet - probably talking about themselves - praising this idiot and then slapping a RED rating on it. Really shows the kind of sharp, clever person they are, doesn't it?

This call came from a call centre pretending to be BT, telling me my internet was being hacked overnight. Problem is, I don’t even have internet linked to the number they rang. Plus, they couldn’t even confirm if it was a business or home line - it’s a business number but they said home (BT would know the real info). If you get a call like this from these scammers, you should report it to Action Fraud, which is run by the police. The more complaints they get, the better chance they’ll take action.

Got a call from some scammer pretending to be from BT, saying there’s a problem and asking me to switch on my computer so they can fix it. Yeah right, BT never ring you up like that, they sort stuff out themselves. Definitely not letting some random person onto my PC to nab my personal info!

Received a couple of calls recently, first one from 'Unavailable' and then from 00971971, and they had the audacity to claim they were from BT's 'Technical Department'. They mentioned some supposed downloads happening on my PC while it was switched off and wanted me to grant them access to 'rectify' this so-called 'issue'. Having spent two decades in the computer security field, I instantly recognised it as a scam and cut them off before they could proceed. Then, out of the blue, I got a follow-up call from a 'supervisor' who alleged I had been rude and harassing his team, saying it was a serious matter and he'd involve the police. I told him I'd happily meet him in court - or better yet, if he fancied a personal visit, I'd really show him what harassment looked like! By the way, all the voices on the calls had distinctly Indian subcontinental accents.

Keep getting these dodgy calls saying they’re from BT saying our accounts been hacked and we need to do stuff online to sort it. They rang my 86 year old nan’s phone - she hasn’t even got internet! We kept them talking while we rang BT ourselves, who confirmed straight away it was a scam. Proper nasty tricks trying to nick personal details.

Someone called me saying they were Jayne Watson from BT, but it wasn’t from this number. She gave me a different number to ring back, which made me a bit wary. The problem is, I actually logged in before asking for the call back number to check it was legit BT. Now I’m worried - have they got what they need to hack into my stuff?

I've received two calls from this number today - one bloke and one lady. They both claimed there was some dodgy activity on my internet line. When I pressed the guy for more info, he had the audacity to threaten disconnecting my internet! Clearly a scam, if you ask me.

Got a call today from a lady with an Indian accent saying she was from BT. She asked if anyone in the house was using the internet between midnight and 4.30am. I said no, and she claimed my internet had been hacked and wanted to help me fix it to save money. I told her if she was really from BT, she'd know I have unlimited internet and just paid my bill last night with no extra charges. She kept insisting I was being charged loads right now and needed help to sort it. That’s when I cut her off and said, 'I know you’re not from BT, you’re a scammer. Goodbye.'

Just yesterday (1st June), I received a call from a number that I couldn't recognise, and a woman with a thick Indian accent claimed to be from BT. As soon as I heard that, I promptly ended the call. Then, not long ago, I received another call from the same number. I let it ring, but they didn't answer when I picked up. It sounded like they were just hanging up in a click without bothering to leave a voice message. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT, said my internet was compromised. She asked me to turn on my computer so she could access it - seemed really suspicious to me.

Got a call from a guy, sounded like he was Asian, claiming he was from BT saying my computer got hacked overnight by someone unknown. He asked if I was on the computer right now. I told him I wasn’t. Then he told me to head to the PC. I just said no and hung up.

I got a call from Jane Watson at BT, an Asian woman, saying my broadband was about to be cut off because it was being hacked and some dodgy porn sites were using it every day. She kept telling me to grab my desktop or laptop so she could fix it without disconnecting me. After about 5 minutes of me telling her I only use a tablet, she just told me to f##k off and then hung up. Proper rude!

some bloke with an english name like watson, probably asian, said he was from bt tech and my internet would get cut if i didnt let him on my pc. for weeks now ive had like 3 or 4 silent or dropped calls every day, real annoying.

I got a call from an Asian gentleman claiming my internet was under threat and he was from BT. I asked for his full name and told him I'd ring BT straight away to check. He gave me the BT support number 0203290000. The weird bit? He said his name was Alex Matthew - which happens to be the first names of my son. Proper creeped me out!

What a complete con! I've had this number ring me multiple times over the last few weeks, and it's the same old story - a woman with a strong Indian accent claiming to be from BT. She warned me that my computer had a virus and that I'd be cut off from the internet in just two hours for three months if I didn't act fast. Of course, she needed me to grant access to my computer, as she promised to help sort it out. The minute I pushed back, she turned quite aggressive. I just noticed today (thanks to 1471) that they tried to ring again, but it looks like the call didn't go through. This is nothing but a scam - avoid their trickery at all costs!

I received a call from a gentleman with an Indian accent who insisted that my computer was riddled with nasty software and that it was causing havoc with my BT Internet connection. Given that I don't even use BT for my internet, it was pretty obvious that it was a scam. Nonetheless, I did have a moment of doubt since I’ve been facing issues sending emails to BT addresses lately. Quite the perplexing situation!

Similar experience here. I got called from 00203151485 by someone with a strong Indian accent, saying it was from my BT. Claimed my internet got hacked overnight even though my PC was off. Told me to switch on my computer and press some keys. I just hung up and turned the answerphone on. After that, they kept calling like 6 or 7 times from 00971971 - kept cancelling and calling back when the answerphone kicked in. The messages left were brief and you could hear what sounded like a call centre in the background.

This morning, a woman rang up claiming to be from TalkTalk. She said I had to follow some instructions on my computer right away or else I'd be without internet for three weeks because apparently my computer was hacked. She was quite aggressive and shouting, which immediately made me suspicious it was a scam. Then she just hung up. Proper unsettling!

Got a call earlier from some bloke claiming he was from BT and said my account was being hacked. He wanted my info but I didn't fall for it. Asked him his name and he just made up some rubbish so I told him to jog on.

Received a call from a woman with a thick accent, hard to understand, claiming to be from BT's tech support. She stated that my internet would be disconnected for three months starting in a couple of hours. It sounded completely dodgy, so I cut the conversation short. I plan to get in touch with BT today to report this; it really had all the hallmarks of a scam.

A lady called claiming to be from BT, saying there was something wrong with my computer. I asked to talk to her manager. Then a bloke with a similar Indian accent came on. I told him my neighbours warned me about a scam going round and the cops were involved. He tried to get me to switch my computer on, but I said no. He just hung up on me.

Calls from "INTERNATIONAL" already blocked, so my phone stayed quiet. Pretty clear that number's fake. Think I might disconnect the blocker for a while and have a bit of fun messing with these annoying parasites.

Hey everyone, this is totally a scam. Some guy said he was from BT and said my internet was being hacked. After chatting for ages and doing what he said, he suddenly told me to “f##k Off.” That’s when I realised it wasn’t BT at all. Just a heads up, you can always check your broadband usage yourself and get in touch with BT directly if you have any issues.

Got a call from a bloke with Dutch or German accent claiming to be from BT saying my internet was getting hacked. He wanted me to sit by my computer so he could guide me through fixing it. Told him I’d been warned it’s a daft idea and ended the call.

We got a call from 00971971 this morning, both times the caller ID was hidden but later showed up. When I answered the second time, I said 'police station' and the woman seemed a bit nervous, asked if it really was the police, then hung up straight away!

I got a call from 00971971, an Indian woman claiming to be from BT. She said my phone line was hacked and even mentioned my IP address, giving me numbers which I haven't verified. I told her I thought it might be a scam, and she (called Angel) told me to call her back on 020-32903398. She also said her ID was 00086. I haven't phoned back yet.

Got the usual call from some "BT" guy from India, telling me I’ve been hacked. Played along for a bit, then they asked me to download some software so they could get into my computer and sort it out. Yeah, no chance. When I refused, the bloke said he’d note down my IP and take it further. Like that’s gonna happen!
