When I rang BT to check, they told me that number isn’t recognised, so I got a bit suspicious and looked it up here. Been getting calls like this before but normally just hang up straight away and turn off my PC for a bit.

Today I got a call from a guy claiming to be with BT, telling me my computer was at risk of being hacked. He asked me to sit at my computer right away. I asked him for his phone number before telling him I was ending the call. After hanging up, I rang 1471 to find his number, then looked it up online. Cheers to everyone who shared their experiences - happy I didn’t get caught out by his spiel!

Got a call from a lady with a really strong Indian accent who said she was from BT. She told me there was an issue with my computer downloading viruses, which I found a bit dodgy since that’s not the case at all. Pretty sure it’s a scam. If this number rings you, just like I did, don’t bother and just end the call straight away.

Got a call from a guy with a heavy Asian accent claiming to be with BT OpenReach. He said my browser was messed up and that strangers might be leeching off my internet. Since it sounded like a BT-related call, I played along and asked him who he thought he was actually ringing! Next thing, the call just dropped. Gotta watch yourself these days!

I got two calls from that number earlier today as well. Totally looks like a scam to me. They said they were from BT openzone and that there was something wrong with my internet. The people on the phone had accents that didn’t sound local at all.

Got a call from a bloke called Thomas, sounded Indian. He said he was with BT Openreach and told me my computer was picking up viruses while I was online. I knew straight away that wasn’t right, as there’s no chance my PC was infected. As soon as he started his spiel, I twigged it was a scam and just ended the call. Later on, I looked up the number and stumbled upon this forum.

Had a call from some Indian bloke trying to scam me and when I called him out, he actually threatened me with sexual assault. Didn’t scare me one bit, but I can tell you lots of folks, especially elderly women, might find that really upsetting. Honestly, it’s nothing but a total scam and an insult to anyone’s smarts. I’m worried about how many vulnerable people get caught up in these calls. Thought about ringing the police, but it feels like it’d just waste their time.

Somebody rang me claiming they were from BT, saying my computer had a virus that was messing up my internet. They were talking rubbish the whole time. Had three calls in one afternoon, two blokes and a lady, all sounded like they were from India.
