7 yearsI kept getting calls from this number, even after I ignored them a few times. Really annoying!7 yearsGot two calls from a lady with a US accent asking about Severn Trent Water shares that me and my missus supposedly own separately. She claimed she was from some place called Thomas and Ward over in the States. Said STW was being taken over and that we should have got a letter from them. She wanted to know how many shares I had. Weird thing is, she already had our full names, landline, and address. I rang Equiniti to check and they told me there’s no takeover happening with STW, so it sounds like a scam.Severn Trent WaterThomasWardUSASTWEquiniti7 yearsThis number has been ringing me quite a few times lately, saying I could make loads of cash from my shares. They tried to get me to pay some sort of ‘insurance fee’ that they said would be paid back later. The bloke sounded pretty sure of himself. Naturally, I didn’t give any of my cash. He mentioned he was from a firm called ‘Taylor Maison’. Has anyone heard of them before?Taylor Maison7 yearsWe've been getting calls from this bloke for several days now. He actually sounds quite believable. Funny thing is, we've noticed that two separate folks actually have really similar voices. The one we got on the line called himself "David Roy." We've since blocked both his number and email.David Roy7 yearsA numpty called me up trying to buy some old Millwall shares I own, but they’re completely worthless. When I said they’re bleddy dead, he just put the phone down. Why do we have to put up with these scam calls all the time? Isn’t there some proper method to block them for good?Millwall7 yearsI got a call from 008735891970 about buying some Torotrac shares I own. They asked me to sign a non disclosure agreement first, which seemed a bit odd.Torotrac7 yearsI got a call from someone with a weird accent, claiming to be calling from New York. He said there was a buyer keen on some Torotrac shares I supposedly had. I told him I didn’t have any shares like that, but he insisted I was due a payment regardless. Then he said I needed to pay a fee upfront, which I'd supposedly get back after 90 days. He wouldn’t tell me his name, and the paperwork I asked for never showed up. Definitely a con - best to steer clear of this one.New YorkTorotrac7 yearsSome lady, sounded like she was from America, called me saying she wanted to buy my shares in a business. I told her straight up she was a scammer. She denied it and said they aren't scammers. Yeah, right!7 yearsGot a call from 008735891970, a bloke with a US accent talking about buying Whitbread shares. I asked where he got my number from and told him I wasn’t interested. Suddenly he started making really rude and crude remarks, telling me I shouldn't have asked to "suck his cock." Proper weird and offensive behaviour. I just hung up straight away. And now they’ve called me again!Whitbread7 yearsThis sounded so legit at first, but turns out it’s a total scam. Honestly, steer well clear of it.7 yearsWatch out, this is one of those share scams. They ask for money supposedly to cover insurance fees, but once you send it, you’re not seeing that cash again. Best thing to do is just tell them they’ve called the wrong number, then hang up and block their number straight away.7 yearsThere’s really no need to yell like that.7 yearsMy son mentioned his BAT shares during a chat, and now he feels a bit daft for handing over his email. We've put a stop to any more calls by using 1572.7 yearsI’ve had three phone calls from someone named Sofia Martin claiming to be from DAWSON ROBERTS ADVISORS. She said they represent a client trying to take over Vernalis plc and offered to buy my shares for between £100 and £120 each. The story shifted a bit with each call. Now they admit Vernalis was actually acquired by Ligand last year, but they still insist on buying my shares. This has got to be a complete scam, since the buyout by Ligand paid shareholders only 6p per share. I’m pretty certain they’ll try to ask for my bank information next.Sofia MartinDAWSON ROBERTS ADVISORSVernalis plcLigandVernalis7 yearsI got a call from Richard Gomez at Dawson Advising in New York, talking about shares I don’t even have. Before that, someone named Sabrina Ford had also rung me about it. Quite fishy if you ask me.Sabrina FordRichard GomezDawson AdvisingNew York7 yearsThey rang me but just dropped the call straight away.7 yearsThey rang me but quickly ended the call before I could answer.7 yearsSo this caller said he was Dawson Roberts from New York, telling me I'd got 4588 scrip issue shares in Stagecoach. Problem is, I dumped all my shares ages ago. He went on about some secret buyer wanting to take over with a £12 offer per share. But before I could get the £53,000 they owed me, I had to put about £5,000 into an escrow account. Seemed proper official at first, but neither person I spoke to had a US accent. They actually sounded more like they were from Spain or Mexico or somewhere.Dawson RobertsNew YorkStagecoach7 yearsGot a call from someone with an American accent asking for my husband about something to do with Pennon shares. Bit odd and out of the blue.7 yearsMy phone just buzzed and went dead the second I picked up.7 yearsi got a call from someone saying they were calling from ny, asking about my late dad and some shares he supposedly had. they wanted my info to set up another call later on. as soon as i said i’d look into it and call back instead of giving my name, they just ended the call.New York7 yearsGot a call about purchasing Greene King shares but the moment I questioned how legit it was, they just hung up on me.Greene King7 yearsGot a call from some bloke who said he was ringing from New York about selling shares. He talked like he knew heaps about a recent deal my missus did. The spiel sounded pretty familiar - something about Non-Disclosure Agreements and shares being sold at ridiculously high prices, along with demands for money upfront. Quite the nuisance, really!7 yearsGot a call yesterday evening from someone claiming to be from New York, said they wanted to discuss buying my Persimmon shares. They asked for me by name but had a really thick foreign accent. Total cold call out of the blue.PersimmonNew York7 yearsGot a call yesterday evening from someone claiming to be from New York. They asked for me by name and started talking about some shady shares. Didn’t hang around, just ended the call straight away.New York7 yearsI received communication purporting to be from a so-called American legal firm that claims to be interested in acquiring shares of the Ross Group. However, I found it quite questionable when I discovered that their domain was registered back in early February 2019 through a rather bargain-basement web hosting service. On their "about us" section, a rather peculiar detail caught my eye: the email address linked from [email protected] leads you directly to [email protected]. Quite odd for a firm that supposedly boasts 1100 lawyers with their fingers in the pies of high-end corporate affairs, not to mention the fact that they don’t feature on the tenant list at 2 Park Avenue, where they claim to operate from. And when I tried looking them up on Google, I found precious little aside from their own sketchy assertions-strange indeed for a firm that’s touted as being so influential! They attempted to get me to sign a non-disclosure agreement, insisting that I wouldn’t be able to disclose any details for a period of six months. If they had the resources they claimed, surely their legal team could ascertain how many shares I possessed without needing me to inform them? Upon a bit of digging, I discovered that my holding is valued at a grand total of just over a pound. The lofty promises of "you might receive £10 or even £15 per share" along with the tale of their client seeking to purchase a virtually bankrupt company for the sake of tax write-offs-the whole thing is starting to sound like a right load of balderdash!Ross GroupPark AvenueGoogle7 yearsShe called and asked specifically for me, said something about the lion trust - though I’m not totally sure on that. I just said thanks for ringing and ended the call there. My guess is it was some sort of sales pitch about shares I might own.Lion Trust7 yearsThe caller wanted to speak to me personally, but when I said I wasn’t available, they just ended the call instantly. Pretty obvious it was a scam, probably from abroad.Submit Your Own Report ()
