I got in touch with BT regarding that number, and they told me it's an overseas scam. They advised not to share any info and simply to hang up and block the caller.

Got a ring from this number earlier today. Some woman, said her name was Carly, her accent sounded a bit off. She claimed she was from "British Telecom research" and asked about how many phone extensions I had at home plus a couple of other questions. When I asked where she'd found my unlisted number, she just said thanks, ma’am, and then cut me off.
