Definitely a scammer, watch out!

I received a call from a woman who definitely didn’t have a British accent while I was in Germany. She claimed there were issues with my Windows PC, urging me to power it up. I wasn’t having any of it and politely declined. In an attempt to convince me, she rattled off my registration code, speaking at an alarming pace to throw me off. She repeated her spiel multiple times, but little did she know, I’m a Linux user and steer clear of Microsoft entirely.

Completely disheartening to find my bank account has been targeted by scammers, resulting in a significant financial loss. It's incredibly frustrating that the bank seems indifferent and unwilling to compensate for the money stolen. Just a really upsetting situation all around.

Someone said they were from BT, saying there was an issue with my IP address and asked about the devices I use. I told them straight up they were trying to scam me and ended the call. Funny thing is, I’m not even a BT customer!

Got a call from a guy who said his name was John, had a really strong Indian accent and claimed he was from Microsoft saying there was an issue with my PC. I had nothing better to do so I played along, asking him silly stuff like how to switch it on. After about 10 minutes, he told me to f### o##, so I gave back the same. The scam scene from that region is really booming. Blocked the number straight away.

Just got a call about 3 hours ago from a guy named William, said he was with Talk Talk and my router had issues. Could be worth letting President Trump know about these, seems like the kind of calls used for ISIS fundraising or something dodgy like that.

I didn’t pick up but I’m totally sure it’s a scam. I got loads of calls like this, about 30 just last week. Once my new phone with the call blocker is charged, hopefully I’ll finally get some peace! It’s a shame I have to spend £130 on gear just to avoid this hassle. Surely there’s someone who can sort this out properly. I’ve even spoken with Ofcom and the Information Commissioner, but they only handle nuisance calls within the UK.

I’m utterly fed up with receiving calls from this number. They kick off with all the polite chit-chat, then promptly dive into some spiel about computer issues, referencing BT. They insist on me firing up my computer, which I have no intention of doing. When I inform them that I’m not actually a BT customer, they brush it off like it’s nothing. Honestly, there’s no way I’m going to power on my computer for them!

I received a phone call from this number claiming to be from BT, asserting there was an issue with my broadband service. They asked me to sit at my computer, but when I declined, the caller turned quite vile, hurling threats and foul language at me. A short while later, they rang again to carry on with the verbal assault. Quite shocking behaviour!

Kept him going for ages before he caught on that I was having a laugh. It's kinda satisfying to mess with those scammers, but in the end, it’s just like shouting into the void :)

Got a call today from a bloke with a Pakistani accent claiming there was a problem with my tax return and that I owed HMRC £6948. He warned me if I didn’t pay, they’d take me to court and I could end up with a criminal record. Said I had to pay that amount using a prepaid credit card from WHSmith! I just ended the call straight away. Be wary out there, folks.

Got a call from 005749055110, sounded like a foreigner. They said my computer had viruses or something. Another one of those scam calls, really dodgy and probably risky if someone fell for it. I’ve blocked the number using BT Call Protect so hopefully won’t get bothered again.

Had a spam caller ring me up, no words just silence, then they rang back again. They use a mobile number so it's tough to tell where they’re calling from. Most likely from places like Pakistan or India where they try to fool you saying your computer is infected with a virus and has big problems. Watch out, a lot of these scammers will mess up your PC for good if you let them run syskey.exe. Syskey locks the password information with 128-bit RC4 encryption, normally stored in your Windows registry, but they can lock it down so you can’t ever get into your computer again. Be very cautious!

I received an annoying call at 12:24 on Saturday, the 14th of January, 2017. My number has been on the Telephone Preference Service for more than 25 years! I was under the impression that it was against the law to call individuals who have opted into the TPS. Why on earth is no one taking action against these bothersome individuals?

Got a call from some guy with an Asian accent, said he was ringing a busy number. Then he started calling me a dog and singing “who let the dogs out woof woof woof,” which made me chuckle a little. Bit sad really, especially when you catch them out for trying to scam you.

This number rang me twice in quick succession. When I picked up, there was absolutely no sound; just a strange pause before an automated voice piped up with a polite ‘goodbye’. It’s rather dodgy, to be honest, as I hardly ever share my landline with anyone. I’ve decided I won’t be answering this one again.

I've received three calls from this number so far. The first time, they claimed there were issues with my computer, mentioning Windows 10. The thing is, I don’t even use Windows 10, nor do I have any issues at all! I informed them of this and promptly ended the call. The other two times, it rang twice and then went silent; one of those calls was annoyingly early in the morning. Quite peculiar indeed!

This morning, I received a call from this number. An Asian lady with a thick accent was keen to chat about my internet service. I firmly told her that my internet affairs were not her concern and asked her to kindly bugger off. Honestly, if my mum hadn't been around, my choice of words would have been rather more colourful!

Received a call earlier today at precisely 09:32. The caller had an Asian accent and kicked things off with the usual pleasantries, typical of scammers. He claimed to be receiving a plethora of error messages on their Windows server that supposedly originated from my machine, and wanted to assist me in resolving the issues. I made it clear that I don't operate on Windows and firmly told him to “sod off,” though my choice of words was a bit less civil!

Its crazy how many so called "companies" call from this number. I got one from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from Norton Internet Security. I told him theres no way I’m lettin him on my computer and dropped the call. This is the 4th call ive had from this number in just 30 minutes, some of them showed up as "international" and others just said "number unavailable." Such a hassle!

This number called me twice within two days. The first time, a guy with an Asian accent claimed to be from BT Internet. He even mentioned my email address, saying there was an issue with it. I told him he wasn’t actually from BT (I used to work there), and he just ended the call. Then today, someone called "John" from the same number pretending to be from Norton Security. I told him the same thing and he hung up straight away. Definitely scammers, watch out!

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying he was from Accident Compensation UK, said he was working out of Leeds. He said he could help me get some compo for an accident I supposedly had in the past couple of years. Thing is, I haven’t been in any accident. When I mentioned that I’d looked at their website and it clearly said they don’t do cold calls and warned about scammers, he just put the phone down on me. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.

This morning around half past nine, I got a call from a chap who I reckon had an Indian accent. He claimed to be calling from BT and warned me that hackers from Asia were attempting to breach my computer security. I asked him for a contact number, and he provided me with one, saying he was located in Manchester: 0161 818 9787. After I hung up, he rang me again, this time his manner had shifted to quite aggressive. When I checked the caller ID by dialling 1471, it showed the number 00579055110. Quite the dodgy situation, isn’t it?

Today at around half past nine, I had a rather peculiar phone call from this particular number. A gentleman, whose accent sounded Indian to me, claimed to be representing BT. He warned me that individuals from Asia were attempting to infiltrate my computer system. I requested his contact number, and he asserted he was based in Manchester, providing me with 0161 818 9787. After I ended the call, he rang me back, adopting a rather aggressive tone. When I used the 1471 service, it revealed the number 00579055110 instead. Quite alarming, really!

I got a call saying I was owed money for hidden fees from my bank over the past 20 years. They claimed 'my Government' handed over my info to them. When I asked to be taken off their contact list (I might have been a bit rude), a supervisor rang me back asking why I was upset! They often speak over you when you try to explain (and the first person told me to ‘buzz off’). Honestly, they’re pushy and really aggressive with their approach.

Today, I received a rather dubious call from this number. The caller, who identified himself, claimed I was eligible for a complete reimbursement of my bank fees - quite astonishing, really! He mentioned that the money would be sent via cheque and had my address to boot. When I expressed my disbelief, he started moaning on about PPI, insisting that I ought to consider it. I firmly told him it was absolute nonsense! "You hang up first!" he commanded, but I shot back with, "No, you’ll do it like you always do!" After a rather awkward silence, he finally ended the call.

As a former police officer, I had quite an intriguing experience earlier today at exactly 10 o’clock on the dot, October 1st. A chap called from this number, and he was jabbering away in an Asian language that I couldn't quite place, before abruptly ending the call. From my time in law enforcement, I've gathered that if you avoid engaging with these dubious characters, they really can't make any headway. They haven't a clue about your identity or your address. I’d strongly recommend looking into a phone equipped with a Call Blocker feature to keep these nuisances at bay.

I received a call earlier today from the number shown above on my phone. The caller addressed me by name and claimed to be from Micro Assist Co., not Talk Talk, as I initially thought. He went on to say they aimed to eliminate scam calls and that they needed to install some software on my computer to help combat these scammers. When I mentioned that my system wasn't switched on at the moment, I asked him for his contact details. He provided the number 02033867758 along with a name he claimed was his. As expected, both the number he provided and the one he called from have been flagged as potential scams.

Received a dubious call today from someone claiming to be from TalkTalk, despite the fact that they're not even our internet service provider. I kindly informed him that I wasn't interested in what he had to say. Surprisingly, he claimed that if I didn’t take action, our internet would be disconnected. I promptly pointed out that TalkTalk isn't our provider. Out of the blue, he switched tactics, now insisting he was affiliated with Openreach and continued to threaten our internet service. Not one to back down easily, I questioned his sudden change of allegiance. He then insisted that he had our telephone number and that he'd disconnect our service. I found it rather amusing to tell him that the number he was fiddling with was actively ringing - as we have several lines, and none of them are hooked up to the internet. At this, he abruptly ended the call. Too bad, as I was rather enjoying giving him a run for his money!

I received a phone call from a woman with an Indian accent, working in a rather hectic call centre. She claimed to represent Talk Talk, but funnily enough, that isn't even my internet provider! I decided to play along for a good quarter of an hour while she prattled on about some so-called issue with my computer, insisting that I should download a certain piece of software to resolve it. Just yesterday, I had a rather unsettling encounter with a call from 02082352355. An Asian gentleman on the other end inquired about a Mr Edwards, which immediately raised my suspicions. I informed him that there was no one by that name residing here, to which he rather brazenly asserted that I was being dishonest. I firmly told him to take a hike and ended the call, only to have him ring me again. This time, I warned him that I'd be reporting him to the constabulary. After that, I cut him off once and for all. I informed her rather clearly that there wasn't anyone by that name residing at this number. Yet, she continued to push, insisting that I must be mistaken.
