Got two calls from someone claiming to be with BT Call Blocker. He asked for my bank info to stop spam calls and surprisingly knew some bits already. I didn’t give anything. After a quick check with BT, turns out it was a scam.

Loads of calls come through like this to me. Often it's some bloke saying there’s hackers trying to mess with my PC. He rings up several times a day, never stops. I just ignore them now. Whenever I get one of these calls, I block the number using TalkTalk’s call blocking, but then they just ring from some new number. Bit of a joke really, I reckon these calls keep coming because TalkTalk hasn’t properly protected my info in the first place.

Got a call yesterday from someone saying they were from the firm that handles our phone security. They were trying to get our direct debit info! I wasn’t having any of it and asked if they worked for BT, since BT should already have our payment info. Then the caller just ended the call. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

this happened to me too. i told him since i’m not paying the direct debit, why would he need my card details? he said it was to do an update. i told him again i won’t be paying the bill and then he just hung up on me. i get calls like this around 3 times every day. i usually let the phone go to voicemail, if it’s a genuine person they’ll leave a message.

This bloke called claiming he wanted to update my info even though he already had my name and address. He said he could help block annoying calls and even mentioned the expiry date on my debit card. I told him I wasn’t interested and stopped talking to him cos I reckoned it was dodgy. Then he just hung up on me. When I tried to ring back, the line was silent. Fishy if you ask me.

I got called by a guy with an accent, pretty much like others have said. As soon as I told him it sounded dodgy and probably a scam, he hung up right away. No doubt about it, it’s a scam.

Got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent who actually knew my address and some stuff about that phone number. Then he asked for the debit card expiry date, which I obviously didn’t give, and I ended the call right there. Feels like a dodgy scam to me, definitely something the authorities should look into asap.

Got a call from some bloke abroad who claimed he could get rid of all my annoying calls. Said he had my card number and just needed me to verify some details so they could stop the spam. I told him where he could shove it and then he just hung up on me. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

My dad’s been dealing with this too - some foreign bloke keeps calling up asking for a person with the same last name but a different first name. He was trying to find out when my dad’s bank card expires. I grabbed the phone and got pretty annoyed with the guy, and he just hung up on me.
