Right after that, another call came from 01235687459, this time Asian Harry said he was ringing about Microsoft Windows. I told him it was rubbish, and he fired back calling me rubbish too.

Got a bloke on the phone with an Indian accent, claiming I'd been in an accident and asking for info. I said if he really knew about it, then tell me when it happened. He said his name was James, so I just told him to jog on!

It showed up as an overseas number, and since I rarely get calls from abroad, I didn’t pick up. Normally, scammers just let it ring a couple of times so the voicemail doesn’t catch it, but this one kept ringing for ages.

Absolute scammers. After a 5 second pause, some bloke claimed to be from an accident support line and said Admiral gave them my number about an accident. I told him I haven't been in any accident for over 20 years and my number’s ex-directory plus on the TPS. He said they’re allowed to ring TPS numbers. Told him where to go and ended the call.

Received a call from a bloke claiming to represent an accident helpline, but I quickly informed him that I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so he shouldn't be contacting me. I asked him to remove my number from his list, and his response was downright rude-told me to shove off before hanging up! It’s not the sort of behaviour you’d expect from a legitimate caller. Just to clarify, I haven’t had any accidents, and considering I’m ex-directory, it’s evident he’s sourced my number from dodgy means. Definitely smells like a scam to me!

This number popped up on my 1471 when I got back, but there was no message left, and it’s not a UK or mobile number. I usually keep my landline switched off if I don’t want calls, and I give out my mobile for the ones I do want, because it’s simpler to block annoying calls there. Im chuffed I looked it up and realised it wasn’t from overseas where my family is. Cheers for making this search thing available!
