On the 27th of October, about 45 minutes after I’d rung my car insurance broker and got transferred to their claims team to talk about a tiny chip on my windscreen, I got a call from someone named 'Michael'. He sounded Asian and asked if I was alright after an accident today. I told him his call was uncalled for and just hung up. We’re unlisted and signed up to the Telephone Preference Service, so we hardly ever get annoying calls. My insurance broker reassured me they hadn’t done anything wrong, but I still reckon their phone system might’ve been compromised.

The call appeared as an international number on my mobile, and considering I've spent the last thirteen years in France until December, I thought I'd answer it. However, to my surprise, there was utter silence on the other end before the caller hung up straight away. They keep ringing me up, saying it’s about some claim I supposedly made (which I didn’t) connected to a car crash (something I’ve never been involved in since I don’t even drive).
