So this guy from BT called about my internet, sounded like he was from Asia or something. When I started asking questions, he just dropped the call. Bit of a shame, I was ready to mess about and waste his time.

I got a call from someone claiming to be the "BT Technical Team" at around 8:15 pm BST. It was a young Asian guy telling me there was an issue with my IP address. He asked me to turn my computer on, and that's when I told him, quite bluntly, that I’m with Virgin and to stop wasting my time. BT and Ofcom really need to crack down on these nuisance calls. They usually say there’s nothing they can do if it’s an international number, but are these calls genuinely from outside the UK? Surely BT has the ability to block them. It’s not that hard! The number was 0046462513.

I said "Hi" and no one answered straight away, so I hung on quietly for a bit. After a while, someone finally spoke up and kept saying "hello", "hello". I just stayed quiet to return the favour, then a bloke shouted a rude word at me and slammed the phone down.

Received a call earlier today, the 4th of May 2016, around quarter to three. There was just silence on the other end for a moment, followed by some office background noise, then the call disconnected.

Got a call from someone with a really thick Asian accent saying they were from BT Broadband support and wanted to fix some computer issues. When they asked if the computer was mine, I said "what computer?" They snapped back with "your f###ing computer" and then just cut the call right away. Honestly, felt like a dodgy call that could have been sketchy or worse!

Honestly, I have no clue who called or what for, especially since it looked like it came from abroad. I did manage to get the number from 1471 though. We’re registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and our personal details are only with our local council for voting matters. Quite frankly, we’ve had enough of this nonsense!

I ended the call quickly, but then the same number called me again a couple hours later, though they hung up before I could answer. Got a call today on Bank Holiday Monday from someone with an Asian/American accent claiming to be from BT. She said my name and then asked if I knew about a security issue with my computer, saying it was running slow. She wanted me to turn it on so she could give me a code to prove she was legit! When I said no, she snapped that if there was a security problem, I couldn’t blame BT. I politely said NO THANKS and hung up. These kinds of calls are so annoying and should really be stopped. I’m not young but I like to think I’m savvy enough online to spot a possible scam.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT (I was waiting for a call so it seemed legit) - the person told me to switch on my computer because they supposedly found some foreign users accessing my internet. They told me to press the Windows key and R, then type [#]support[###] - it took me to a page asking me to download some software. They rang quite early today, my dad picked up and said they sounded like foreigners and he couldn’t make out what they were saying. I grabbed the phone off him and heard some error warnings about my computer, so I told them to jog on and hung up. Total scam artists, honestly.

0046462513. Got proper rude after I told them I wasn’t going to switch my PC on. They rang me before 8 in the morning, saying it was urgent and that they were from BT. The woman sounded Asian. She got pretty aggressive when I said I wasn’t convinced she was actually from BT. I already knew it was a scam since they tried this trick with me a few times before. I just let her keep talking, threatening to ‘shut down’ my PC and cut off my internet. Then I just laughed, told her to jog on and go ahead. Weirdly, she hung up. I reckon I really annoyed her. Ah well.

They say they're from BT tech support. They'll send you to some 'rescue me' page to show that sites you're visiting have viruses or are hacking your PC. Then they ask you to open your router box and type in some website stuff and your bank info so they (pretend BT) can supposedly protect your connection from hackers. Total con job.

This number rang me up. The person on the line, speaking with a thick Asian accent, claimed my internet wasn’t secure. He told me to get on my computer and he’d help fix it step by step. I asked him for his BT employee ID and he just threw out some random digits. I told him I reckon he’s a scammer. There was a long pause before a voice with an Indian accent told me there was an issue with my BT line. I told them I didn’t trust it and that BT wouldn’t call me out of the blue like that, then ended the call. Later the same number rang again but nobody spoke. I checked the number by dialling 1471, got the same number back, but an automated voice told me to ‘please hang up’, so I just did.

Caller had really thick Asian/Indian accent on a crackly line, said he was from BT International and needed to discuss an issue with my internet. I questioned him about the bad line quality and if he was legit, he said they’d be moving me to a new line, so I just ended the call. Checked 1471 and saw the number he called from. Got another call from the same number 10 minutes later but it was just silent.

Someone rang me pretending to be from BT, saying my IP address was de-registered and it meant there was a security risk. The caller and his 'manager' both had Asian accents but used names that sounded very English. They asked me to open the command prompt and run msconfig and netstat to show the issue.
