Why is it that BT can’t just block these annoying calls? I can block annoying numbers on my mobile no problem, so why not on my landline as well?

I received a call early this morning at 7:10 from this number directed towards my mum. She struggled to comprehend what they were saying, but it soon became clear it was a dodgy scam attempt. She firmly told them to clear off!

003920 rings me atleast 3 times dailey, goes straight to my answerphone. Its a recorded voice telling you to press 2 if you dont have gas, smells like a total scam. Also got a pushy woman with an Asian accent calling, claiming our BT internet or computer is at risk. She gets quite rude if you ask questions and just hangs up if you say you have an engineer team.

Got four calls from this number today, two times nobody there, once it went to my voicemail but no message was left, then the last call was a guy with an Indian accent saying he was a BT engineer checking on my broadband - I hung up quick when I said I don't have BT internet.

I received a call from this number bright and early at 8 in the morning. When I picked up, there was complete silence at first, and only after a moment did I hear a pre-recorded voice say 'Thank you' before the line went dead. Quite peculiar, to say the least!

My elderly friend received a call from this number yesterday morning, and I answered on her behalf. It was an Asian bloke, talking about BT and needing to fix the lines. He asked if I had a computer, and I confirmed that I did. However, I mentioned it would be rather tricky to switch it on, seeing as it’s about 12 miles away! Clearly, he wasn’t really taking it in, as he just kept repeating himself. I pointed out that this was a scam and that BT wouldn’t reach out like this. I firmly instructed him to remove my number from his records and to leave us alone. He kept insisting I listen to him, to which I retorted that he should listen to me and to just disappear! I’m planning to lodge a report with the police now.

Got a couple of calls yesterday and again today. Both times, nothing said, just silence and then some recorded voice saying 'goodbye'. My mum's been getting these now and then for months but she never called 1471 so we couldn’t tell if it’s the same number. She wouldn’t share any info if they asked, but it’s pretty unsettling for her when they call late at night.

BT, computer, internet. He managed to guess just one out of three. Luckily I only wasted half a minute of his time. He caught on I was about to mess him about. Maybe next time, mate!

Got a call from 003920 today, some bloke called Ron claiming he was from BT. I pretended to believe him for a bit (again) when he said my internet was infected with malware, and warned it would be cut off in two hours. I just told him straight up, "Do you want my bank details or can you stop with this nonsense?" Then he hung up, pretty rude. He spoke with a strong Indian accent. THIS AIN'T BT, DON'T SHARE ANY DETAILS OR LISTEN TO THEM. TOTAL SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!

I received a call from a chap with an Indian accent not long ago. He claimed to be representing BT and ominously informed me that my phone and internet services were set to be disconnected in just two hours. According to him, I had a mere 15 minutes to resolve the issue, and he insisted I hop onto my computer or laptop so he could sort it out from his end. Naturally, I decided to end the conversation.

I had a rather peculiar phone call from this number earlier. An Indian gentleman informed me that my computer was harbouring some sort of nasty malware. When I mentioned that I had robust security measures in place, he insisted I grab my phone and head over to my computer. I simply couldn’t do that, so he inquired if I owned a laptop, to which I replied negatively. After that, he abruptly ended the call. It’s quite surprising to think you can have such a short phone number! Nonetheless, it’s vital for folks to be aware that this is indeed a scam, and it’s best to just hang up.

Got a call from some bloke with an Indian accent saying he was with BT. He told me my computer was running slow and they had to switch off my internet, so wanted my info. I told him I wasn’t buying it and he hung up. Then I called 1471 and got this number. Tried calling it back but no answer. The same number rang me again within 10 minutes. Proper annoying and could be risky if I’d gone along with it. This definitely isn’t BT, and he’s not called Gavin!

This moron keeps ringin me, I usually just let it go cos I reckon it’s a scam. Once I picked up, and they just hung up straight away. I ain’t got caller ID, so could be anyone really. Reading the comments here, feels like it’s some phoney BT bloke trying to get malware on your gear. A mate of mine fell for it, ended up installing some program called supreme on his laptop, and now he’s trying to figure out how to get rid of it.

In the past 48 hours, this number has bombarded me with roughly ten calls. Luckily, my answering machine managed to catch most of them. However, on one particular call, I decided to pick up and found myself speaking to a bloke with an Indian accent who started to sound rather hostile. I made it clear that if he dared to ring me again, I would be reporting him to the authorities. It’s evident that countless individuals could fall victim to this blatant con.

Like many before me, I received a call from someone with an Indian name-Mark, if I recall correctly. Got a call from a bloke pretending to be from BT about my internet. I told him I'm not a BT customer, but he insisted it didn't matter since BT allegedly manages all lines. I said, even if that's true, BT wouldn't have my number because I’m not with them. He kept arguing, then I mentioned my caller ID showed a 003920 number, which I know isn’t a BT one. After that, he just hung up.

I received a call from an Indian gent claiming to be part of the BT Technical Team, insisting that my computer was riddled with harmful files. I kindly thanked him for the information, explaining that I don’t use BT services and that my device is perfectly fine. However, he became rather pushy, insisting that I wasn’t comprehending the seriousness and that only BT could resolve the supposed issue-no other provider had the capacity! I made it clear that I was aware of the scam, which evidently ruffled his feathers a bit, as he had the audacity to ask me if I was daft! I then requested to hear his name again, to which he cheekily replied ‘Brad Pitt.’ I played along and said I was ‘Angelina Jolie’ and he could chat to my solicitor if he wished! They've been quite relentless, too, as they've attempted to ring me back two more times in just thirty minutes!

I experienced similar phone calls back on the 22nd of September in 2016. The person on the line had an Indian accent and abruptly ended the conversation when I asked for details to be sent to me in writing. They claimed to be located at BT Tower in London. Is it possible they've got call centres there? Sounds very fishy to me!

Much like Jill mentioned earlier, I had a rather curious encounter with an Indian gentleman claiming to be from BT. He ominously warned me that my broadband service was about to be terminated. When I inquired about the reasoning behind this abrupt action, he asserted that I'd been downloading corrupted files incessantly over the past few months. Mind you, we’ve only just relocated two days ago and had our phone line switched on! It was quite irksome, to say the least. Once I expressed my disbelief and adopted a rather sarcastic tone, he promptly disconnected the call.

They rung me a couple of times. First time, just silence then a quick "bye". Then a few hours later, 003920 called again. I could hear a busy call centre noise in the back. A bloke with an Indian accent said he was David and that he wanted to talk about my internet. I ended the call straight away. Seeing what other people have said, I reckon I made the right choice.

Just got a call from this number. Normally, I only pick up if it’s someone I recognise, but it’s still a hassle dashing inside to check who's calling. When it’s one of these dodgy calls, and I’ve got a moment, I like to throw out silly questions without waiting for an answer. They quickly hang up and never bother again. Like asking things such as, "Do you think underlay quality has gotten better over the past 23 years? Got any cousins in Romania? Do you grow carrots at home? Are your thumbs clean? Were you fed by breast? Did your grandma fancy peas?” and loads more stuff like that!

003920 I had a problem with my line and BT sorted it out last week. Then I got a call from someone claiming to be BT asking if everything was alright with my connection. I tried to chat but when they started speaking in another language, I threw a security question at them and they just hung up. Not sure if it’s coincidence or if there’s some info being leaked from inside. I’ll definitely be informing my provider and BT about this.

At around 10 o'clock this morning, on the 16th of September, I received a rather suspicious call from someone claiming to be 'Mark', who said he was affiliated with the BT technical support team. I thought it a bit odd but went along with it for a moment. He then inquired as to who the primary internet user was in our home. At that point, I decided to hang up the phone. After that, out of curiosity, I dialed 1471 to gather more information about the number. It’s worth noting that this is the first time we've ever been contacted by this particular number. Seems like a classic scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, telling me my computer had problems and if not sorted out my internet would be out for ages. I recently encountered a similar situation where I confronted a chap about his identity and intentions, yet he continued to pester me. I decided to share snippets of my rather tumultuous life-it's been quite the rollercoaster, as you can imagine. I kept him engaged for about three quarters of an hour, allowing him to believe I was on board with his scheme. In the end, however, my leg grew quite numb, prompting me to tell him to take a hike and that I'd be alerting the authorities.

CAUTION! Received a phone call from the number 003920 claiming to be from the BT Technical Support team, insisting that my computer was suffering from issues and that they would disable it within a day. Given our recent phone line troubles, I was momentarily convinced he was on the level. He instructed me to press certain keys, but it led nowhere. I suspected he was gearing up to request more personal information. When I asked for a BT contact number to verify his identity, he stuttered and dodged the question. Got a call from some guy claiming to be with BT, asked if I was the primary user of my computer and went on about how hackers were detected while I was using it. I just hung up straight away. If it was for real, the BT rep would have asked for more security info first.

Like I said, his English was alright, and there were sounds of people chatting in the background to make it seem legit. He asked me to switch on my PC and do some stuff with it (obviously so he could get access). When he couldn’t say my name or give my account number, I just ended the call.

Whenever I get a call from a number I don’t recognise, I just let it ring off. Then, I have a quick look at my 1571 messages. If nothing’s there, I’ve saved myself the hassle of chatting to whoever it is or some random spammer.

I’m a BT customer and just recently spoke to their Indian call centre, which was surprisingly helpful. But now, these scammers keep ringing me! Honestly, BT should be really embarrassed - it seems like their database is being leaked from that offshore centre. My suggestion? Switch away from BT, they’re just not worth it. And if you can, block the 00392 number, it’s just a headache.

Got a guy on the phone with a hard to understand Indian accent, claiming there’s issues with our BT broadband dropouts (which felt real since we've been having loads of trouble recently!). He was saying all sorts could’ve got downloaded onto my PC without me knowing, maybe a virus or something. I just said thanks and that I’d check with a tech mate I trust. Pretty sure the next move would’ve been asking to get into my computer?

Honestly, I’d just tell them to shove off! 😂

Got loads of calls today 26/07/2016. Some came from a 003920 international code but no one spoke, so I just ended the call. Other times the caller ID was hidden, I dropped a few calls but the last one was a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from B.T. I told him I reckoned it was a scam and cut him off. We’re ex-directory anyway!

I’ve been getting quite a few rings from this number lately. Just yesterday, I got a call claiming to be regarding a BT internet connection, which is odd since I don’t have any such service! Definitely something to keep an eye on.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with BT. He told me my internet had an issue and that 40,000 people in the UK were facing the same thing. When I told him I wasn’t convinced, he threatened that under the Data Protection Act, my internet would be switched off for six months if I didn’t follow his instructions. I just hung up straight away!

I received a rather alarming call at 14:50 on the 22nd of July, 2016. The chap on the other end, who introduced himself as John and spoke with a distinctly Indian accent, was insisting that there were hackers infiltrating my BT line. He urged me to power up my computer immediately, threatening that failure to do so would lead to my phone line and internet being out of action for six months, along with the possibility of being hacked. When I requested his contact number for a callback, he outright refused to provide it. After some back and forth, he finally hung up. Do yourself a favour and ignore this nonsense!

I've received multiple calls from this number, which appears to be linked to a computer hacking scam. Each time, they ask if I'm the owner of the computer, claiming to represent BT. They insist that there are hacked files on my device. It's all rather suspicious!

Got a call from 003920 and it just went dead on my voicemail. No reply when I picked up. Noticed some folks saying they got someone pretending to be from BT. Probably best if everyone reports it to BT. I’m definitely planning to do that!

Absolutely dreadful connection! The caller ended the conversation abruptly, but this isn’t the first occasion I've encountered such behaviour.

Got a call from 003920 today, the voice had an Indian accent but the number didnt look familiar. The guy said someone nearby was freeloading off our BT internet without paying. He asked for some info from us so I started asking him stuff. Claimed to be a senior manager at BT in Holborn but needed to talk to the account owner because they might cut off our internet for good. I asked his name and he just ended the call. BE CAREFUL!! Definitely sounds like a scam.

Got a call from 03920 yesterday, but the number looked odd on my phone, so I didn’t pick up and just blocked it. Sure enough, they called again today, this time with an extra 0 on the front, making it 003920, so I blocked that one as well!

There was nothing but silence, then a click, followed by a recorded message saying 'Goodbye'. I've got Call Guardian and have blocked the number now.

Received a call earlier today, they claimed there was an issue with my internet and asked for £2.50 payment. Normally I wouldn’t fall for it, but this time I did, and now I see money has been taken from my bank account.

Some bloke called Andy from "bt" rang me sayin he was gonna disconnect my phone and internet. I just said alright, then he asked if I had a laptop or PC, I told him no. After that, he goes who covers the bills? I said mind your own business. Then he actually called me a bastard with like a weird accent, then just hung up lol.

8:48am on Saturday 28th May, got a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT saying there was a virus on my email. I’m ex-directory so how did he even get my number? And how did he know I’m with BT? I just ended the call straight away and checked the number with 1471, it showed 003920. I tried calling it back and it was dead silent, no ring at all. Definitely a scam.

Got a call earlier from someone sayin he was Mark from BT tech support, said they were gonna cut my internet in an hour. I kept askin why but he just kept sayin the same thing again and again. Could hear loads of noise in the background, and frankly, I don’t believe it was any Mark from BT - more like some bloke in India called Raj! I just ended the call.

Somebody saying they’re from BT tech support called me. When he asked for the homeowner, I told him it’s a business line and if he really was from BT, he’d know that. Then he just hung up. I’d had a few bizarre calls the last couple of days too, like silent ones or just a quick “goodbye” at the end. Probably about 4 or 5 calls all in all.

Andy from BT tech team rang me too, same as the others have said. I kept him talking for nearly 5 minutes while I pretended to write something down. He asked if a little box popped up on my laptop, and I said, “Yes, it says warning warning scam caller detected.” He just put the phone down straight away.

Such a strange number, only 6 digits long! It showed up as International 003920. Thanks to caller ID, I just let it ring until it went to voicemail, but no message was left. If they ring back, I'll do the same thing again.

This number rang me up, and the person on the other end claimed they were about to cut off my Internet because it was supposedly hosting harmful content. I told them I have virus protection, but they said that wasn’t the issue. When I asked who my Internet provider was, they got it right. Then, when I pressed about how long the disconnection would last, the call abruptly ended. Honestly, it was a pretty scary situation.

I've received over ten calls from this number in just the last couple of days. They keep leaving a voicemail with a brief pause followed by just a "thank you" before it cuts off. It's really starting to get on my nerves... Does anyone know who they might be?!

They rang me 5 times today, no reply first 4 times. On the fifth, some bloke said he was from BT tech help. Told him not to call again or I'd report to the TPS, then he started calling me a ba**ard repeatedly until I just hung up.
