Got a call earlier from this number, a woman speaking with an Asian accent telling me my PC was infected and that she could fix it using teamviewer remotely. Watch out, it’s definitely a con. Teamviewer itself is legit but these callers aren’t. When I didn’t hand over my card info, she just hung up on me. I’m with TalkTalk and my number’s ex-directory, so I’m really curious how they managed to get hold of it.

Some bloke named "Ryan" rang me up, sounded Asian, and said he was from TalkTalk, which is actually my internet provider. He told me their engineers found messed up files on my computer slowing down my internet. Said he could sort my PC out and make it faster. He tried to get me to go to the Teamviewer site. I pretended to go along with it but then asked him to prove he was really from TalkTalk. He then started swearing and just ended the call! Total scam... steer clear...

This number rang me earlier today. A woman answered saying she was from the tech team at my internet supplier. She claimed my broadband might be slow since their system showed my computer was running badly and offered to fix it. She wanted me to open my PC and visit a certain website she’d provide. I told her I was busy right then and she just ended the call. Definitely a dodgy scam attempt.

I got a call from an Asian woman claiming she was from BT. I told her, quite amused, that I use Talk Talk. She kept going on, but I ended up just hanging up on her. This is actually the second time the same lady has dialled my number.

This has to be a scam, and it’s still happening now. I got a call from a woman speaking with a foreign accent claiming to be from some 'IPS' team, saying she’d help sort out issues with my PC - which honestly sounded so dodgy. Looks like it’ll take some time before the proper officials step in and stop this nonsense.

So this evening I got a call from someone saying they were from BT. It felt dodgy right away so instead of doing what they said (like switching on my computer), I rang BT myself to report it. Honestly, no clue what might have happened if I’d done what the caller said, but figured BT should know. It took ages just to find a proper BT number to ring, then I was on hold forever. When I finally got through, they seemed a bit clueless too - asked if I wanted an email or another number because they weren’t sure who to direct me to. Quite unhelpful and not bothered at all. You’d think a scam running under a well-known company’s name would be taken seriously, especially since they have no trouble finding phone numbers to call from. Bit frustrating really.

Got a call like that earlier, but as soon as they wanted me to use teamviewer, I got a bad feeling about it. Pretty sure it was a scam. I kept grilling them with questions until they got annoyed and just hung up on me.

Got a call today, Saturday 11 May 2013, from someone asking me to switch on my computer. I humoured them for a bit, knowing full well it was a scam. Eventually, I asked them if they really thought I was daft, then told them to bugger off. After that, she shouted some awful language at me before bombarding my landline with loads of rude calls!

Today, I got a phone call from this number, and the lady on the other end spoke with what sounded like an Asian accent. She claimed she was ringing for BT, Virgin, TalkTalk and a few others about some issue detected on my computer while online. I was pretty sure it was a scam, so I asked which company exactly she was representing. Instead of giving a clear answer, she just repeated the same list of ISPs. I told her straight up I thought she was being dishonest and was likely trying to pull off a fraud. After that, the call just cut off. These aren't just annoying calls, they're total con artists.

Some bloke phoned me saying there was a virus on my computer and asked me to switch it on. I just put the phone down after that.

Got a call a minute ago at our computer store. The bloke was going on about some issue with my PC and wanted me to link up with him so he could demonstrate. I told him no since we’re the ones who fix computers. Then he goes "Get lost... I’ll come and sort you out, you f***ing idiot!" Absolutely brilliant... I managed to record the whole thing! J

Got a call this evening from someone trying to pull a scam on me. I told the bloke there was nothing wrong with my computer because I don’t actually own one - just use my iPhone and iPad. Instead of hearing me out, he snapped at me to shut up and listen. When I refused, he just told me to fuck off. Dead rude!

Got a call from some woman called Lynda claiming my computer was running slow and she wanted me to log in so she could sort it out. I played along for a bit, then told her I wasn’t able to access the PC but asked if she could fix it if I just gave her my credit card info (bit of a laugh). She hung up straight away. After that, I left my phone off the receiver for ages so they couldn’t ring me or bother anyone else.

Today I got a call from a company claiming there were problems with my phone line and that these were linked to Talk Talk, which is who I get my internet from. They told me to log into Teamviewer and then showed me a temp folder full of files they said were corrupted and causing my computer to lag. I then asked them to confirm my account details, but they couldn’t do it. They said they supposedly represent all broadband providers. That’s when I ended the call and closed the Teamviewer access.

Totally dodgy. Got a call today at around 4.30pm (Monday 29th April 2013) from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from a tech support team, saying there was an issue with my broadband. When I asked which internet provider she was representing, she just rattled off a load of different company names. I mentioned my connection was fine and straight away she hung up on me.

Got a call today from someone claiming they were sorting out virus issues for every broadband provider, naming loads of them. I asked them which provider I had, and they got it totally wrong. I didn’t point out their mistake but just asked what they wanted me to do next. They told me to switch on my computer and promised to share a website to fix the viruses remotely. That’s when I’d had enough and said to them, if someone rings out of the blue wanting to access your computer, it’s pretty dodgy in my book. They hung up straight away, which only made me more convinced it was a scam. Definitely a scam!

On 27 April at 4:01pm, my elderly dad got a phone call from someone claiming his TalkTalk account was infected with thousands of viruses. They convinced him he had to buy a £200 antivirus software right away. They told him to switch on his PC and go to some ‘team something’ site on Google, then told him to enter some details. The callers said they were scanning his machine and claimed his AVG antivirus wouldn’t work with his system. Before hanging up suddenly, he told them he’d check with someone else about it. This whole thing really distressed him and it completely spoiled his birthday tea later that night.
