4 yearsTotally, mate.9 yearsI’ve never actually visited Egypt, and after hearing about these pickpockets, I’m even less keen to go. At least when I’m on Edgware Road, I’m extra careful with my wallet now.EgyptEdgware Road9 yearsJust to add to my comment from 22/08/2017: the number shows up as being linked to Alexandria, Egypt. Still doesn’t seem legit though.AlexandriaEgypt9 yearsThe number that popped up on my phone was 00 20 7837 8240 (with two noughts at the start), which immediately raised red flags for me as it reeked of a scam. It was a male voice, sounding distinctly South Asian, who claimed to be a solicitor. He started off by asking me to verify my identity and proceeded to talk about some alleged accident involving my vehicle. Having dealt with such dodgy calls previously, my instincts were already on high alert. I probed him with, “What accident are you referring to?” He simply stated, “an accident”. So I followed up with, “What details do you have about this accident?” His answer was a vague, “We know everything but cannot share any details.” At that point, I pressed, “What registration numbers are you working with?” This seemed to fluster him, and he ended up hanging up. It wasn’t due to confidentiality or professional ethics; it was clear he had no actual information and realised I wasn’t falling for his ruse. If you ever spot this number on your phone, just ignore it - there's no need to engage!9 yearsGot a call about some accident, but the number looked dodgy to me since the area code had double zeros. Definitely a scam.9 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be a solicitor talking about an accident involving someone at my place. I just ended the call straight away.Submit Your Own Report (03 8378240)
