Got a call from a guy claiming to be from BT, said he was from India. Told him I didn’t want to chat and just ended the call. Normally I wouldn’t pick up these sorts of calls but thought maybe it was someone I was expecting to hear from.

About half an hour ago, I got a call on my landline from a bloke who sounded Indian. He claimed BT had received complaints about corrupted files and that my internet was in danger. I told him I’d had the exact same call from him a couple of months back and said it was rubbish before slamming the phone down. When he rang last time, spouting the same nonsense and warning me they’d cut my service, I asked him to tell me my name - he ended the call right away. Total scam if you ask me.

Somebody called me saying they were with BT, but it was definitely a scam.

Got a call from a lady with a foreign accent, said she was from BT and my router had some strange activity. I just kept replying with stuff like, 'oh yeah?', 'right, go on', hoping she'd carry on. Suddenly she made this weird 'ouch!' noise and hung up like she got told off or something. Normally, I tell them, 'hang on a sec' and leave the phone alone for a bit - it makes them wait and wastes their time.

Got a call from someone saying they were with British Telecom. I told them we don’t even use BT, but they insisted they were from British Telecom. Sounded dodgy straight away. I decided to humour them. Then they passed me to a “technical supervisor” who claimed hackers were using our internet for illegal stuff and that they needed to block it. I mentioned I would ring the police myself, but the guy said they’d handle it for me. When I said I’d call them myself, the line just cut off. Totally a scam, no doubt about it!

I was quite taken aback by how disrespectful someone was to my elderly neighbour, who's 87. They hurled some awful language at him, which is simply unacceptable.

My 87-year-old neighbour received a call from this number, during which the caller was quite abusive before abruptly ending the conversation.

I received a phone call claiming to be from British Telecom, with the caller insisting they needed to help me remove a virus from my computer. Given that I used to work as an engineer for BT in my retirement, I can easily spot this as nothing more than a fraudulent attempt.

I got called by a strange number too, so I told them straight up it wasn’t one I recognised. Then the person claimed they were from BT, which sounded fishy to me. They kept going asking what lights were flashing on my router which was a dead giveaway since I use fibre optic. Proper giveaway, right? I decided to mess with them a bit and kept playing along until they finally caught on. Definitely one of those scams trying to nick your info. Best just to hang up or deal with the nonsense quickly!

Today, 13th May 2018, I found a message on my answering machine. It warned me that my BT broadband IP address was apparently at risk. The caller urged me to press 1 to speak with a "technical consultant" who would guide me on how to fix the issue. I couldn't help but notice the American accent, and I had a nagging feeling that I'd had similar calls before. Quite suspicious, I must say!

Someone rang claiming to be from BT asking about my internet. They wanted to confirm if I was the owner of the house, which I told them I wasn't. Then they asked if they could speak to the homeowner, and I said no way. They just ended the call straight away. It's obviously a scam, when will these scammers be stopped for good?

Just like many others, I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent pretending to be from BT. There was so much background noise, it was nearly impossible to make out what she was saying. I didn't waste much time and quickly told her I thought it was a scam.

Got a call two days straight. First day, nobody picked up, but today some bloke with a funny accent rang saying he was from BT. He told me someone was trying to access my internet from overseas. I just said cheers for the heads up and then ended the call.

I've received several calls at my home from this number, but I hadn't answered until this morning. When I finally picked up, a gentleman with a strong Indian accent addressed me by name. After I acknowledged it was me, he claimed to be representing BT Broadband and said my computer had been 'hacked'. I informed him that I do not use BT and that my internet connection is through satellite, completely separate from any phone line. Nonetheless, he insisted that I should sit at my laptop so he could guide me through the process of removing the supposed 'hacker'. That was when I decided to end the call.

I received a rather peculiar silent call earlier. Upon answering and uttering "hello," an automated voice simply replied with "goodbye." Quite odd, isn't it?

Got a call from a woman with a strange accent, said she was from BT and that my internet had been tampered with abroad, causing loads of data use and issues. When I told her she could be anyone and asked if she had a number I could ring back on to check, she just ended the call. Total scam, honestly. Never give out your info unless you're sure who's on the other end and always ask for a contact number to verify the call properly.

some bloke said he was from bt and told me some hackers in japan had gotten into my internet. he kept going on about how much i use it and when i asked what he wanted, he just hung up on me.

Some bloke said he was with BT and warned me my internet was about to go wrong. He asked me to log in so he could control my computer. I just told him there’s no way I’m doing that and told him to get lost, total scam. Turns out the call was actually from Egypt.

got a call from someone claiming to be bt, telling us there was an issue with our broadband and asked us to log in. we double-checked with bt directly and they said it wasn’t them calling. definitely a scam, beware!
