This number has been ringing people in Oxford recently. It was a bloke with a strong accent, sounded unsure about his company or his purpose, just said he was representing all the energy companies. I told him to stop calling and to send me any info by letter instead. He kept pushing but I ended the call.

Got a call about renewing commercial energy and they wanted me to spend two minutes going over terms before they could send a confirmation letter. I told them to just email the info instead. But this guy kept asking, practically begging me to listen for those two minutes. I kept saying no, but he just wouldn’t accept it. Super frustrating.

I got a dodgy call from someone claiming to be from Eon about my contract running out. They had the wrong postcode for me though, and when I told them it didn’t match, they acted really weird and started calling me mad, insisting it was my postcode. Felt like a total scam to me.

Got a daily call from some muppet claiming to be with EON, with birds chirping in the background like they’re outside or something. Keeps asking for the boss, saying he’s from the energy company, but that’s total rubbish. Wish there was a way to flip the bill on these time-wasting scammers who keep ringing up!

I've gotten four calls over the past few days. The first one said it was E.on, then the next two said British Gas, and the latest one said Opus Energy. It's obvious they're not calling from a UK centre and all the details they give are just plain wrong. I’d advise against picking up any calls from these scammers.

I usually have the web on my laptop ready to look up any numbers I don’t recognise. I never pick up straight away; I figure I can just ring them back if it’s important. Cheers for sharing your thoughts, I gave this one the silent treatment and now it’s blocked as well.

They claimed to be from EDF wanting to go over terms and conditions for my renewal. When I asked them to send me something in writing, they said they already had sent a letter. Then, out of nowhere, they told me they have to talk to the owner before anything can be put down properly. Yeah right, as if!

I got a call from a man with a strong accent, saying he was from EDF energy, which isn’t actually our energy provider. He mentioned our 'contract is about to end’ and oddly enough, he knew the exact name of my business and claimed he had a file showing EDF was our supplier. When he asked me who my supplier was, I didn’t want to say. It’s obvious that somehow someone’s sold a list with our business details and phone numbers because my husband gets nonstop calls on his work mobile too, all pretending to be from EDF energy.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from "eon - your present electricity provider" (which we're not with) talking about renewing our electricity deal. Total scam, avoid it!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who then passed me onto a bloke also from India claiming they were verifying info about my E-on gas account. They rang me two times, and I told them I’d be checking the number and reporting them. Definitely a scam, watch out! The number they called from is actually based in Egypt!

On Tuesday around 4.20pm, I got a couple of calls from an Indian lady. I told her I was busy but she kept pushing. Even when I said I was about to hang up, she called straight back. I repeated myself and ended the call. This morning, an Indian man rang and I couldn’t quite catch what he was saying, so I asked him to repeat himself. I told him again I was going to hang up, but he called back immediately and I gave him a piece of my mind before putting the phone down. After that, they rang three more times but I ignored them. Turns out, they were after a British Gas contract.

They rang me twice the same day. I’ve got a new number that once belonged to a pub, so they must have thought it was a business. When I asked which gas and electric firm they were from, the bloke wouldn’t say. It’s clearly a scam. When she asked for my name, I told her if she had the bill, the name should be on there anyway, but she just brushed past that. I tried asking a few times for their phone number but she never gave me one. Ended up just hanging up on her.
