Somebody called me asking if I’d been getting unwanted calls. I said yes, then they said I should sign up with their 'telephone preference service'. I told them I’m already signed up, so they asked who I’m registered with. I told them it’s the official UK Government one, The Telephone Preference Service, and that calling me like this is actually illegal. Then they just hung up on me!

Got a call from some place in SE Asia, line was all crackly. The person read out some dodgy script and even used my name, claiming they were from telephone preference management. I told them I didn’t reckon that was true and just hung up straight away.

Got a call from a guy who sounded Asian claiming he was with TPS, offering to help cut down all the spam calls I keep getting. I asked if there’d be any fee involved, and he told me it was free since I'm a BT preferential customer. He already knew my name and postcode, which I confirmed, and that I pay BT by direct debit - no surprise there. But things got dodgy when he asked for my debit or credit card details and the expiry date. That was a red flag, so I just ended the call straight away. Felt really fishy.

Somebody called me but ended the call before I could say anything. This happened twice today already. I really think everyone should report this number to the cops.

Got a ring from this number saying they were from the TPS, asking if I was still getting annoying calls. They told me some 'department' would block calls coming from abroad. Then, out of nowhere, they tried to get my bank card info!! Calling them scammers is putting it mildly!

Got a call from a bloke with a really thick Indian accent, asking for me by name. I asked which company he was from and he said something like “telephone preference management company”. I told him straight up that he was being a proper liar and that his call was against the rules. He kept insisting ‘I’m not lying, I’m not lying’, but I just repeated myself and then he abruptly hung up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the telephone preference management service, and they gave a contact number of 0871 270 0040. When i tried asking a few questions, they suddenly got quite rude and started yelling. I didn't give them anything at all.

Some bloke called saying he's from the telephone preference service, but they just keep calling anyway. I’ve stopped picking up now and they never bother leaving a message on my answerphone. Don’t ever give them your bank info, it’s not safe.

They asked if I was still getting those annoying calls, then mentioned I'd need to sign up again with TPN for overseas numbers. I said no thanks and told them I'd look it up myself on the internet. Turns out, it was just another spam call.

When I picked up, I gave them my full name, and then they asked if I was Mr X, which obviously I wasn’t. I told them no and then asked if they even heard what I said. They got all awkward and quickly said, “I don’t wanna speak to you anymore.” Honestly, that’s a pretty good way to shut down these dodgy scam calls.

someone called adam claiming to be with the telephone preference service. he seemed pretty sure about info about me, really convincing. but then he asked for this long 14 digit code they use to confirm identity - turns out it was basically my sort code and account number from my debit card! bit dodgy if you ask me.

This number called me about 5 or 6 times today. At first, they tried to get info by promising vouchers, then someone pretending to be from Microsoft rang. I also had a few calls where no one said anything, just a robotic “goodbye”. Another caller claimed to be from the telephone preference service, but the accents were all over the place and the English was rubbish. One bloke gave his real name, then quickly corrected himself saying “I mean Peter”. I told them they’d reached a police station, and they ended the call sharpish.

someone rang me saying they were from the telephone preference service and told me nuisance calls would be back from tomorrow because of new laws. then they asked for my bank card info to 're-register' me. when i said i don't share any details with strangers, they got pretty pushy, so i ended the call. they've called a couple more times since but now they're blocked.
