I’ve had around 20 calls in the past week from this number, supposedly coming from Egypt. Luckily, my phone is hooked up to Truecaller so it caught all their calls. I’ve now blocked the number so fingers crossed they don’t bother me again!

[July 2016] Got a call from 002023524561, and on my third answer, this woman with an Indian accent claimed she was from BT Internet, saying they manage my internet (which they don’t). She claimed my PC was sending out loads of error alerts about viruses. When I questioned her, she switched to saying she was from BT Openreach. Tried to get her to confirm my IP but she totally messed it up. She did have my name, address, and phone number - probably from the electoral roll or something. Asked how she got the error warnings (email, system alerts?), but she couldn’t explain. Total rubbish, just a scam trying to fool me. Trust me, no one is going to get genuine virus error messages about your laptop like that. Just block and move on.
