They're total scammers, a guy and a woman who ring from all sorts of different numbers. They even threatened me, claiming they’re with the FBI, CIA, or some Federal Criminal Unit. They need to be stopped before they harm anyone else!

Got this typical bloke with an Asian accent and some made-up English name claiming he’s from BT. I normally play it cool, say I’m calling from a company and that I’ll need my IT team to check it out. Then I ask them for a callback number - seems to make them drop the call straight away.

I've been receiving a plethora of early morning calls lately. I pick up and say 'Hello', and they respond with a 'Hello' back before abruptly ending the call. What a nuisance! It's become so bothersome that I've decided to silence my phone until a more civilised hour. Now, I've switched it to Message Mode, where I've left this note: "In light of the significant increase in scam calls, please provide your name and contact number, and I’ll return your call." Quite the solution, if you ask me!

I've been getting a right nuisance of calls at the crack of dawn. I'd answer with a cheery 'Hello', only for the other end to echo back the same and then promptly cut off-what a pillock! It's become such a bother that I've taken to switching off my phone until I've had a proper lie-in. Now, I’ve set it to message mode with a little note saying: "In light of all the bloody scam calls lately, do leave your name and number, and I promise to ring you back!" Job done!

Loads of calls first thing in the morning. I answered with 'Hello' and the person just said 'Hello' back, then cut off. Proper nuisance. Now I switch off my phone till later so it doesn't wake me up. After that I put it on answerphone with a message like: "Because of the increase in scam calls, please leave your name and number and I’ll call back." Problem solved!

Some bloke pretending to be Mark Watson from BT called me. When I said BT never gives out last names, he told me to f#ck off right away. We ended up having a weird bit of banter where he said I was good enough just to lug his crap in a bag (honestly, it was that strange). When I finally asked why he was ringing, he just said "to nick all your money". Credit where it’s due, he was being straight up.

I said hello but got nothing back, so I tried again and a bloke picked up saying he was from Windows and they had some issue with my PC. I told him they couldn’t have, as my computer hasn’t been on for more than a week, then I just ended the call. There was a lot of noise in the background, sounded like one of those call centres. Definitely a scam!

I didn’t answer as it was an 001 number, so I looked it up here online first. Really pleased I did. They called twice this morning, once at 8:30am and again at 9:15am, and it’s been like that for the last few days. From what I worked out, considering UK time, all US offices should be shut by then. The US time zones are around midnight to 3am when they’re ringing.

My elderly mum got called three times this morning. First call was from BT at 08:10, second was just dead silent, and the third one was a woman saying a creepy goodbye without even saying anything else. This has been happening for ages, over a year now. I don’t recall them ever calling from US numbers before, but some voices sounded familiar, probably from past calls. Most had Chinese or Asian accents. Would be great if something could be done soon to stop these calls, whether they're from UK or overseas numbers.

Got a call from some bloke who left a message on my answerphone just saying "hello, hello, hello". There was loads of noise like an office in the background, so I reckon he didn’t realise it was an answerphone that answered!

This number keeps ringing me, especially at the weekend, one time was at 8.10 exactly. It always comes up on my caller ID as INTRANET, so I usually just ignore it.

No clue who it was. I noticed the +1 at the start of the number, so didn’t say anything when I picked up. Just silence on the other end, so after a bit I hung up. If they ring back, I’ll have a chat to check if it’s one of those “Your internet’s been hacked” scams. Love those calls, pretending to help, saying yes done that, no that’s not working, oh it finally did, no wait, it didn’t, oh I’m on Linux, does that matter? Beeeeeep. ;) They’re risky if you follow their instructions, but totally fine as long as you only pretend to do it.

Got a call from this number today around 12:04. The man claimed to be with BT and said there was a problem with our email service in the background. He sounded pretty annoyed when we told him we were already sorting it out, which we definitely weren’t as everything’s fine. Normally, we just listen for a bit and then hang up.

They claimed to be from BT, seemed to know loads of my personal details and even gave me a fake BT account number to try make it sound legit. But as soon as I questioned them, they turned really rude and started swearing at me. Proper aggressive and nasty.

This number rang me yesterday claiming I was owed £2,500 in PPI compensation but I had to pay £500 upfront. They said I could pay once my cheque cleared. Today, they called again saying I needed to go to the post office to get a tax reference number and call them back, and that the cheque would arrive Monday. I told them no way, better to give it to charity. Then I warned them all my calls are recorded and I'd report them to the police. They swore at me and hung up. I use BT call guardian and honestly it’s brilliant! This number kept ringing me a bunch this week but thanks to guardian I’m sorted. When I pick up, the caller has to say who they are first, then I can choose to accept the call, ignore it or just block the number. I’ve gone and blocked this number now.

Got a call from a woman named Jane, she said somethin about my internet being used in the middle of the night from about 12:30 to 4:30 am. Asked if anyone was at home who might be causing it, but I told her I was busy and asked if I could ring back later or get a phone number. Then she just hung up. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Got a call from a woman with a pretty strong Asian accent claiming to be from BT. She said my broadband was about to be cut off for a week and asked me to sit by my PC so she could explain the issues. I told her I was too busy and didn’t want to deal with it. She then threatened to disconnect my service, so I told her to go ahead and do it. She just ended the call immediately.

This number rang my 83 year old mum and somehow convinced her to give away her bank info. Some bloke claiming to be from "BT" told her to pop down to the post office and send a money order. Then he said she had to buy £700 worth of iTunes vouchers coz she couldn’t log into her iTunes account properly. She’s on the phone to her bank now, I’m worried they might have emptied her account already.

Got a call earlier from a woman who had an Indian accent, but the phone line was so bad I could barely hear her. She claimed to be from BT and said there was an issue with my internet blocking theirs. I told her that was unfortunate, and when she asked me to repeat myself, I did, but then she asked me to hold. I told her I wasn't going to, and she just kept babbling nonsense. I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Got a call from an Indian guy today. He told me my broadband and landline had to be switched off for 3 days because of a cyber attack. Apparently, someone’s been trying to hack into my line between midday and 4am for the past 4 days. He said I should download some kind of protection from the internet. I got calls from some Indian folks about an education grant, asking for my dob, email and stuff, seemed dodgy right from the start. Then they said someone higher up would talk to me, but ended up passing me to someone else who kept asking for the same details. Really annoying and kinda fishy. I think they’re trying to get you to enrol in a bogus college or worse, trick you into handing over your socials or paying fees. Best just to ignore it.
