Just like the person who posted on 17/10, I switched to BT in September and never had a single scam call when I was with Sky. Now, I get at least one scam call every day. Feels like BT must be giving away our details or something.

I got a call on my home phone from a bloke with quite a heavy foreign accent pretending to be from Microsoft. He insisted I had a virus on my computer and urgently needed me to switch it on. I told him I already use antivirus software and asked him to name it before I’d believe anything. Of course, he couldn’t say. He kept pushing me to turn on the computer immediately so he could “fix” the virus. Thing is, my PC was already switched on. I told him no thanks, since he couldn’t even tell me what antivirus I had, nor that the computer was on in the first place, then just hung up.

This awful number called my mother in law, and she ended up hearing the nastiest language from the bloke on the other end. It really upset her. Honestly, such behaviour is just terrible. They tried ringing again after around an hour, but we decided not to pick up the phone the second time.

There’s this really irritating bloke who keeps calling, saying he’s from Microsoft and needs to fix my computer. He’s proper persistent and starts getting rude if you don’t play along. Total pain!

This number keeps ringing me but the moment I pick up, they hang up right away. Sounds dodgy to me, like those scam calls. I’ve saved the number as “ccall” now and I just ignore it. If your phone shows caller ID, just let it keep ringing - eventually they’ll stop trying.

I've had my answerphone set up ages now and it's been brilliant, no trouble at all so far. When I get unwanted calls, I just shove the numbers straight onto my Block list. That way, they don't ring back again. Saves me the hassle of having to report those annoying people!

Got a call from someone with a strong African accent asking if the owner was home. Just ignored and blocked it.

Haha this number just rang me, some guy speaking with a strong African accent. He was quite forceful, asking if I was the person who owns the house. I replied, “No, you’re actually calling the Helensburgh police station.” He hung up so quickly it was like I could feel the phone snap in my hand! Proper funny moment!

I got a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft, saying my computer was sending out spam emails. I just let them talk, pretending to go along with it. Just as I thought they were about to end the call, I told them, "Please don’t hang up, my mates in MI5 and the CIA promised I’d hear the blast from the drone tracking their signal." Well, they shut up and hung up straight away after that! I phoned BT and they confirmed the call was from overseas. Crazy thing is, they’ve tried calling me again while I’m writing this - do they never give up?

A bloke with a strong Asian accent rang me saying he was from Microsoft. He told me my computer was infected and offered to sort it out. Once I realised he was after remote access to my laptop I told him that was basically computer fraud, and he ended up swearing at me. I looked up the number afterwards and found out the 979 area code is actually in Texas.

Got a call from a guy with a foreign accent claiming to be from Microsoft about an issue with my computer. I told him I don’t even own a computer, and he just ended the call right away.

Some bloke with a heavy foreign accent was on about my computer spreading viruses and claimed he was from Microsoft. Couldn't really catch what he was saying properly, so I asked him to send it in writing. He kept saying he'd ring me again later but I wasn’t having it and told him to write it down. Got a new landline set up through BT recently, with a fresh number. Not long after switching on, started getting these silent calls almost daily, even though I signed up with the TPS some weeks ago and my number’s ex-directory. It’s been about three calls a day, mostly showing up as "Withheld", "International", or once this weird number 0019798268468. The only place that’s had my new number so far is BT. Really odd...

Got a call from a bloke saying he was from Microsoft Windows. I’ve been caught out by this sort of thing before, but was in a rush so told him straight he was a scammer and to stop ringing, or I'd have the cops onto him. They kept calling back, so eventually I picked up, trying to stay calm and polite. Same guy asked if I remembered him and started the usual spiel again. Then he turned proper nasty, throwing insults at me. I just kept pretending not to get what he was saying and he ended up hanging up. Time to grab my phone blocker!

There’s this weird echoing office background with chatter but no one’s actually talking to me. When I checked my answer machine, there were two messages with that same office noise, both times right after someone picked up. It’s kind of spooky honestly.

So far today, i got two calls from the same number. The first time, i just hung up straight away. The next call i picked up and this woman said she was calling from microsoft about issues with my pc. I told her i was aware of what it was about and gave her a heads up that i was recording the call. She just ended it right after that!

Every time I pick up, there's this annoying noise and then they just hang up. They've been calling me off and on for the last few days at all sorts of times. I've had the same number ring me loads of times, with someone claiming to be from Microsoft and saying there's a virus on my laptop. They ask to get access to my computer but it’s clearly a scam. I even told them to remove my old files and my TPS registry or whatever, but they just keep ringing. Proper annoying!

Some woman rang me, said she was from Microsoft and that my laptop was full of loads of viruses. I told her I've got solid antivirus software so there’s no way my computer’s infected. When I asked where she got my number from and why she was trying to hack into my laptop, she just ended the call. My number’s unlisted and I’m signed up with TPS, so really annoying!

This morning, I was phoned twice by a bloke and once by a lady, all saying they're from Microsoft. Just a heads up, Microsoft doesn't ring you out of the blue like that. Don’t hand over any personal details or let them control your PC remotely, and definitely avoid any links they want you to click on. My number is unlisted and on the TPS, so I’m surprised they even got through.
