I got a call from some American bloke pushing me to offload shares fast. The company they mentioned was Cresmont Capital Advisors. Pretty weird tbh.

This felt like one of those Boiler Room scams. They rang my mum trying to chat about my late dad’s Prudential shares, saying they'd buy them at a really good price. Mum got all mixed up and even after telling them her daughter sorts her money stuff, they kept ringing back. From what little mum managed to tell me, it’s the usual story - some ‘client’ wanting to snap up shares at a sweet rate. They said they were Russel Smith from Dynamics Incorporated or something like that. Their website looked dodgy, nothing like a proper professional firm.

They called and asked for my husband by his name, but I told them they’d got the wrong number. The person speaking had an Indian accent.

Some woman with a funny accent called me claiming she was from New York and that her company wanted to give my husband an offer on Prudential shares we don’t own. She even had our address, which she struggled to say right, and asked for our email. I told her straight up she was trying to scam us and ended the call. Can you believe she had the cheek to call back again?

Got a call from a woman with a strange accent claiming she was calling from New York. She said her firm wanted to make an offer to my husband about Prudential shares - which we don’t actually own. She even had our address, though she stumbled over how to say it, then asked for our email. I told her straight up she was a scam and ended the call. Can you believe she had the cheek to call back again?

This number 0019175085292 keeps ringing and when I looked it up here, loads of people said it's some sort of bank scam. I never even answered, but the call lasted ages, way longer than a normal call. It came through at about 18:45. Definitely dodgy, so don't pick up!

Some bloke called himself Michael Banks, claimed he worked for Dynamics Incorporated. He was all about buying shares to do some kind of hostile takeover. Then he started talking about me paying for an insurance indemnity to seal the deal and wanted me to sign an NDA. I just told him, nicely, to jog on!

Got a call from some lady named Sabrina, sounded foreign, talking about Prudential shares. Thing is, I don’t even own those shares anymore, but she was saying she wanted to buy them for a client to do some kind of hostile takeover. The whole thing seemed really dodgy to me, so I’m pretty sure it was a scam.

I got a call about some international power shares and they asked to speak directly to my mother-in-law by name. Thing is, she’s been gone for years now. When I told them that, they kept pushing and wanted to know where these shares supposedly were. I explained that any shares she owned would have been sold once she passed away. Then the call just ended there.

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming to speak for her 'client' who wanted to buy Tesco shares at a higher price to boost their stake from 43 to 51% for some kind of takeover. It all felt a bit dodgy, so I just said no thanks nicely. Still wondering how they managed to get my name and number though, smells like some kind of data leak or security lapse.

A man with an Asian accent called up asking to talk to a certain relative about possible share ownership she might have. I told him she was out working and pointed out she doesn’t hold any shares - I’m her sister, so I know. He kept pressing me for info as if she was at home. When she finished her police shift and came back, I filled her in on the call. These poor scammers just don’t stop trying, it’s always one trick after another. Honestly, his mum would be heartbroken if she knew what her son’s gotten up to.

This was clearly a dodgy scam all about Centrica shares. The bloke had an American accent and somehow already had the name of the person he was ringing. It sounded pretty convincing if you’re not careful. He asked for an email address so he could send over a non-disclosure agreement for signing, saying he couldn’t give any more info about buying extra shares at a discounted rate without it. Really think this ought to be reported to the police so their fraud team can look into it.

Someone called me with what sounded like an Asian accent, mentioned some company name I didn’t quite catch. The spiel was just like one I’d read about on 6/4/21 - some offer concerning M&G/Prudential UK, claiming that 40% of big investors were already on board. It felt suspicious from the start, so I just hung up.

I got a call from some bloke claiming he was with "Myers Corporation" out of New York City or something like that. He spoke with a clear American accent and was going on about a company called Prudentialimag. He said they were trying to take over by buying a load of shares and that they'd already got promises from institutions for nearly half the stock. When I asked why I hadn’t seen anything about it in any news or finance papers, he got a bit snappy. That’s when I just ended the call, knowing it was dodgy.

I got a call from an Asian woman saying she was representing a client interested in purchasing a controlling stake in Legal & General by buying shares, with offers between £7 and £14 per share - though she didn’t specify which exact shares she meant. She mentioned that they would send the details via email and that I’d need to sign and return a non-disclosure agreement. We suspected this might be a clever scam, so asked where she was calling from. She gave the number 01716 328 1576, but my phone showed it as 0019175085292.
