I got a call a moment ago, they even knew my address and claimed to be calling from Sandymount in Dublin. Seemed pretty convincing at first, but I don’t actually own a visa card. The second I said, "are you trying to scam me?" they just cut off the call.

This number rang me earlier. I stayed quiet for a few seconds and heard nothing, so I said hello, but they just cut the call right away. How do they even get hold of phone numbers like mine? Received a call today here in Ireland from a woman with an Asian accent asking if she was speaking to my dad. When he confirmed, she just ended the call straight away. I've reported it to the Bank of Ireland and warned everyone in the house not to answer if that number rings again.

Today i got a call from these fraudsters pretending to be from my visa card company. I just ended the call straight away and then contacted my bank to check if everything was alright. Turns out, it wasnt them at all. I’d advise you all to do the same. Banks usually don’t mind if you just cut off the call to be safe.

Got a call just like this today, the bloke said he was from BOI and mentioned something about 3D security, even knew my name. He had the first four digits of my card, which I think is pretty standard for BOI business VISA Debit cards. But when I asked him to give me the rest of the card number, he immediately hung up. The only times I've used this card were at Camden Court hotel in Dublin and a Starbucks in Blackrock. It’s a bit worrying - how on earth do they get hold of these details?

They knew my name and mentioned the beginning of a visa number, which I told them I wasn’t aware of. Then I asked what the call was about and they just ended the call. The number they said wasn’t even mine.

Received a call on 7th August, and also on the 6th, but when I answered, there was nobody there. Tried calling the number back but it was either busy or said it didn’t exist. Contacted Vodafone and they told me it's a scam number.

Today, on 6th August 2015, someone rang me but just cut off straight away. I called my network, Vodafone, to see if they could block the number, but apparently they can't. They suggested I should report the matter to the Gardaí instead.

I got a ring from this number while I was in Castlebar, Mayo. The person on the line claimed he needed to confirm my Visa Debit card info. When he found out he was speaking to a Police Station and that we were tracking his number 001800718899, he just ended the call. My tip would be to avoid picking up if this number calls you.

Today, the 17th of June, I got a call here in Dublin from a woman who said she was from Bank of Ireland or maybe Permanent TSB. She wanted me to confirm my visa debit card details. I asked her where exactly she was from as her accent sounded Indian or Pakistani, and she got a bit annoyed. This phone number seems to be from Canada. A guy with an Indian-sounding accent tried to get my bank info, warning me I could get in trouble, or he’d tell me my computer was full of viruses. Then, he wanted me to switch on my PC, visit a website, and press some weird key combo that’d supposedly infect my clean computer with malware. I played along, keeping him chatting for about ten minutes. Eventually, I fibbed and said I’d tracked his location down and sent a bunch of armed men after him. He just swore at me and hung up. I told them my name was something silly like gobbledygookblah, and the woman on the line wasn’t happy - she called me a b****. I fired back calling her a scammer, which really riled her up and she kept calling me the same insult. I said, “Now, hang on, that’s not how you speak to customers,” and she just repeated the b**** insult again. At that point, I dropped the f bomb and she hurled another “b****” right back. Honestly, I don’t get why Eircom can’t just block these numbers for good!

This bloke called up saying there was something wrong with my computer. I kept him on the line for about 20 minutes, pretending to follow his instructions, although I hadn't even switched the thing on! Honestly, it beat watching the political debates on telly. At one point, I told him I couldn’t press CTRL and another key together because I’d lost a hand in a chainsaw accident - also messed me up somewhere else, if you catch my drift. He didn’t even seem bothered and just kept going on. My missus was in stitches laughing, but I finally ended it by shouting “HELP!” down the phone, and he hung up straight away.
