Had a bloke from India ring me up chatin’ about my smart meter, trying to get my meter number. He said he was from Eon Energy, but that’s total rubbish. I phoned Eon myself and told them all about it, and they said they never gave us a bell.

Some bloke from India kept ringin' up, askin' for our meter number. He kept callin' us nonstop for days. I told him to jog on, then he spent about an hour callin' me from a bunch of different numbers, one right after the other. I ended up blockin' them all and it looks like that stopped him. Don’t reckon he was too chuffed when my missus had a right go at him down the phone as well!

Keeps ringing from someone saying they’re British Gas about some issue with smart meter readings from a couple of postcodes. We’re a business, so clearly nonsense. Heavily accented Indian call centre voice. Asked us for the meter number. Told them to send an engineer if there’s really a problem, didn’t give any details, then just hung up. Bet if I’d gone along with it, they’d have tried to get our bank details for a ‘refund’.

01716896432 claim to be from British Gas but it’s a total scam. They say the meter number they have is wrong and that there’s a mistake in the postcode, saying it’s why they can’t produce a bill. Complete rubbish. They wanted me to go online while speaking to them but I said no way, I’d ring British Gas myself. They offered to give me a number but I wasn’t falling for it and told them I’d use the number from my last bill. Rang British Gas afterwards and they confirmed they never called us.

Got a call from someone saying they were British Gas, but I hung up right away since I’d dealt with this person a few months ago and it was a hassle. Hadn't heard from them in ages. As soon as I ended the call, they rang me back but this time from a different number with a totally different area code! They were asking why I’d ended the call! Seems like they’re using loads of different numbers, so watch out!

total scammer alert. if there really was a problem with the ac, the company would send their own tech or some legit person to sort it out. ive been getting like 3-4 calls daily for weeks now and the only difference is who’s pretending to be the “supplier”. absolute waste of time and super annoying.

Got a call from a woman speaking with a thick Indian accent, saying she was from British Gas and asking me to log in online and share my meter ID. Seemed a bit dodgy to me. She was likely knackered and frazzled after a long shift in her hot, cramped Mumbai flat without any aircon. Bet her sari was snagged and torn when she closed it in the car door. Still, she'll be heading home tonight to tell her skinny kids she didn’t earn a penny today, at least not off me. No cash for those kids with their begging bowls on the streets tonight, I've done my part.

I just got a call from a guy who sounded Indian, claiming he was calling from my energy provider about an issue with my meter number. When I asked which company he was with, he said EON, but we dont use EON. So, I ended the call.

About 10 minutes ago, I got a call and the same thing happened to me as well. The caller said his name was Alex and claimed to work for EON, saying he was linked with British Gas and Scottish Power, but not the actual supplier of our electricity. He mentioned there was an issue with the billing and asked for the meter numbers. I dealt with a very similar situation nearly two months back and ended up reporting it to the police. Definitely sounds like a scam to me!

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming he was from Scottish Power, talking about the meter. We don't even have one here. When I told him we’ve never had any account with them, he said he’d cancel the contract. I told him you can’t cancel something that’s not there! Then I asked again where he was really from, and he insisted Scottish Power. I replied, well you don't sound Scottish to me, and that’s when he just hung up!

This bloke with an Indian accent rang up saying he was from NG and even got my address almost right. I told him I worked for Gazprom (which I don’t), and he claimed he was from there too - went on about the meter not working and needing our number for billing. I told him to send it in writing, then he just hung up :) Pretty sure it’s a scam.

Someone rang claiming to be from SSE, spoke with a strong Indian accent and even knew our address, saying there was an issue with the meters. When I asked where they were calling from, they answered Bristol!!

Someone with an Indian accent rang me twice asking for my meter supply number, saying there was some issue with their database. They actually got my correct address and supplier right. I called my supplier and they told me they’d never ask for that kind of info. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Been ringin me nonstop for the past few days. Every now and then they leave these weird laughing messages. Today I finally answered, and some bloke with an Asian accent claimed he was from the Eon meter reading team. I hung up straight away. It's scary coz older people might get tricked by these dodgy scamers.

Got a call from someone claiming they were from British Gas, wanting me to double check my meter numbers. got two calls yesterday from someone sayin we hadn’t paid our electric bill and that they were from eon. i told them we use sse and he said the two companies had merged. then he just hung up on me so i rang sse and they said no merger had happened and that they set up a password for the account for calls. later the same guy called back and when i asked for the password he cut me off straight away.
