Got a call from a guy who said his name was "Tom", sounded English, said my loft insulation hadn't been checked since it went in. Then he said he could sort a "free" inspection for me. Smells like the start of a scam or maybe just trying to pick out someone more easily fooled!

00157 keeps calling me, saying they’re from BT and threatening to cut my internet off due to some issue unless I press #1. I’ve already blocked this number a couple of times today but it still rings. BT hasn’t been much help about it either.

This sounds like one of those scammy calls from Indian tech support. They always say they’re Microsoft certified or that your computer has sent them error alerts. Microsoft themselves would never ring you up like that, it’s definitely dodgy.

Had these dodgy lot call me up four times just yesterday. When I told this rude asian woman not to call again, she just went "they might anyway". First time they pretended to be from Microsoft, then the last call from Windows or some rubbish. The number was 0157 8456 9874.

I got a phone call from someone with an Asian accent, maybe Pakistani or Indian, asking me to log into my computer. It felt a bit fishy, so I said I didn’t have a computer nearby. The bloke said he'd ring me again. Now after reading some of these comments, I’m more prepared. I checked the number by dialling 1471 and it showed 0015735550192. Just waiting to see if they call back. Honestly, don’t ever let anyone get into your PC.

Got a call from someone saying they were from tech support about my computer. I just ended the call and dialed 1471 to check the number, it showed up as 001573550192. They rang me again later that day. I hung up again, dialled 1471 once more, but this time the number was hidden.

Got a few missed calls lately from a number that shows up as 00157 when I check 1471, which looks dodgy to me because it doesn't seem like a proper phone number. The first call left a voicemail with just someone saying "hello". I looked it up online and apparently it's some kind of automated scam. I wanna block it but can’t because the number isn’t recognized as real. So annoying...

If they manage to get into your computer, you’re basically forced to wipe everything and start fresh, then sort out all the bank security again if you shared any info. So, the best thing is to never hand over your details to anyone calling you out of the blue. Also, keep in mind they might ring from various numbers for different scams but it’ll be the same group behind it. Stay safe and all the best!

We figured out they was scammers when we said we just wanted to double check and contact TalkTalk ourselves. Then they started getting all nervous and a bit pushy. Thats a big clue right there. If you tell them to hang on while you check things out, they get annoyed and lose patience cos they know they're about to miss out on cash. This is always a solid way to spot a scam. NEVER give out your info to anyone over the phone. Real companies will already have your details and wont ask you to repeat them, they’ll confirm stuff with you instead.

I worked in IT before and would keep these callers on the line for ages, sometimes over an hour. Told them I was using Linux. They tried to get me to go to [#]teamviewer[###], which is some remote access software so they could nab all my info. Next time, I’ll just run an old XP machine and see how they react when all it shows is info about IT scams. Haha. Also, if you’re with TalkTalk, forget about call barring, it only blocks numbers with 10 digits, which is pretty useless against these lot.

Since I got this t#### device 3 years back, I havent had any dodgy calls, telemarketers or blocked numbers disturbing me. Honestly, best purchase EVER. The phone stays silent unless the caller is on my STAR list. (Just to be clear, I am NOT linked to TrueCal at all)

That 00157 number is a total scam, it's got no connection with TalkTalk at all. Don't let whoever's calling get access to your computer. TalkTalk would never ask for your bank info over the phone, especially if you're already a customer since they already have those details.

Got a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from 'Talk Talk' about my computer. When I saw the number 00157 on my caller ID, I just ended the call straight away - feels good I did!

I picked up the phone and there was absolute silence, so I hung up and then dialled 1471 to check the number. Suddenly, a robotic voice said ‘Goodbye’. The number it showed was 00157, which seemed quite odd. Looks really dodgy. Don’t pick up if you get this call. I’ve seen others mention that callers pretending to be from Talk Talk ring up about problems with their computers and then try to get your bank info. Please don’t share any personal details with these lot.

THIS NUMBER 00157 RANG ME TWICE SAYING THEY WERE FROM TALK TALK, BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE A SCAM, THE GIRL TALKED WITH AN ASIAN ACCENT. DONT PICK UP IF U GET THIS CALL, PROBLY ANOTHER FAKE. I GUESS TALK TALK MIGHT BE HAVING SOME SECURITY ISSUES AGAIN. STAY ALERT!!!

Got a ring from this number claiming to be Talk Talk, said they had to check my internet connection! Couldn't really understand their English at all! When I began to ask some questions, he actually told me not to annoy him!! I just laughed and ended the call. Watch out for these lot!!

Scammers alert! Got a call from some guy with a thick accent claiming my computer was infected with nasty malware. Told him I already run antivirus software so there’s no issue, and he just cut me off when I asked questions. If these lot manage to get into your machine remotely, they can nab all your passwords, so watch out and just tell them to shove off!

Just got a call with nothing but silence, then a robotic voice said ‘goodbye’. The mention of hacking up there got me thinking cause my laptop has been acting strange for a while now - the screen keeps flickering off and on. Yesterday I tried to type the letter ‘e’ and instead it showed a Euro symbol, which weirdly isn’t even on my keyboard! Proper odd!
