Got a message on my phone saying there was a legal judgment against me and to ring a particular number. Total scam, obviously.

On the 27th of March 2018, around 11:29 in the morning, I got a recorded call warning me about supposed legal trouble if I didn’t phone officer Leitha Williams at HMRC, number 01226697940, right away.

I received a rather unsettling phone call just now, which left me quite rattled considering I’m home alone. It reminded me of an odd exchange I had recently with an individual claiming to be a ‘debt collector’ - I told him to take a hike. I was just about to ring them back when I decided to look up the number instead. Thank goodness I did! It appears that a bit of common sense has kicked in at last.

got a recorded call claiming it was from hmrc, i didnt stick around to listen and just hung up straight away. sometimes i get emails too, supposedly from hmrc, saying ive got a refund - always some weird amount - so i send those on to hmrc themselves and they tell me its a scam. just a heads up, proper hmrc stuff only ever comes in the post, dont trust calls or emails sayin otherwise.

This morning, I received a rather alarming call from this number, claiming that if I didn’t ring them back immediately, I’d find myself embroiled in a huge lawsuit. Thankfully, it clicked that HMRC never contacts individuals by phone; they communicate via letters instead. Plus, as highlighted in another comment, you won’t catch them wishing anyone a lovely day over the phone - that's a dead giveaway! Clearly, this is a scam of the highest order, and I do believe it’s high time someone stepped in to address this, whether it be the police or another appropriate authority.

Got a ring on my extension earlier today, but call guardian picked up and they didn't leave any voicemail. I saw the number on 1471 and decided to look it up here to see what others had to say. Unfortunately, not great feedback! I'm going to add it to my blocked calls now. Cheers for providing a handy service like this!

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying I was taken to court over a big debt and had to ring back right away. I just ignored it and left my phone alone till they hung up. Fingers crossed it tied up one of their outgoing lines for a bit!

I received a call from this number not long ago, and it was quite clear that it was dodgy. I highly doubt that our beloved HMRC would extend such warm wishes as 'a blessed day' given all the absurd threats they tend to throw around.

I've been receiving daily phone calls from this number all week, purporting to be from the Inland Revenue and Customs, claiming there was a case against my name. They insisted I call them back immediately or risk facing legal charges. It's clearly a fraudulent setup, especially since the number is international. The Inland Revenue always communicates via official letters, not phone calls!
