I received a rather peculiar call the other day. A chap with a foreign accent, almost like he was seated in a call centre, sought me out by name. He claimed to be representing Telecom and provided me with his name along with a contact number for the service. To my surprise, he even mentioned what he purported was my licence number. The fellow insisted there were issues with someone trying to breach my system and urged me to switch on my computer. I told him that I would appreciate it if he could ring back next Monday, giving me a chance to verify his legitimacy. Now I’m left wondering if he’ll actually follow through! I’ll certainly be ready for him.

Got a call from some bloke called 'Ric' claiming he was from BT. I was quick to tell him he was clearly a scammer and to get lost. Surprisingly, he hung up right away. I've since blocked his number to be safe.

Got a ring from this number, sounded like a bloke with an Asian accent. He claimed to be calling from BT and said there was something wrong with my internet. I told him I didn’t have any issues and asked straight if he was trying to scam me. After a pause, he just went quiet and then hung up. I was just about to mess about with him a bit!

I had a rather dodgy call from this number today. An Asian chap on the other end proclaimed he was representing BT and claimed there was an issue with my broadband. I assured him that everything was fine on my end and I'm quite content with my internet service. He persisted in his spiel, so I cut in and bluntly asked, "Are you trying to scam me?" To my surprise, he hung up straight away! What a disappointingly short exchange! It really frustrates me how these con artists target unsuspecting individuals; we've got to put a stop to it!

Just had a call from someone acting like they were from BT. I threw them off by saying it was Openreach who handled the line, not BT. Would have been interesting to keep the convo going, but hey, got other stuff to do!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, speaking with an accent. He said there were hackers messing with my phone and offered to fix it. He gave me a number to call back, 0800 800 158, which seemed legit but actually doesn't exist. Bit suspicious really, shouldve guessed because BT never ring up out of the blue to help you!

Received a call today at half eleven this morning (29th April 2017) from someone claiming to be with BT, saying they were aware of problems with my connection. I asked for a callback number to verify their identity before proceeding. They rang from an international number, but provided a local number: 02032901029. I opted not to return the call-could this be yet another scam attempt?

I must say, my call-blocking phone has worked a treat! The only reason I know I received a call from this number is that it still shows up in my call history. For anyone considering a new landline, I’d highly recommend investing in one that can filter out pesky calls. Mine has the ability to block individual numbers or even an entire range. For instance, I’ve set it up to block all calls beginning with 0011-no matter the rest of the digits, they’re all sent packing! This clever setup has greatly reduced these annoying calls to just the occasional one or two. To be honest, it’s quite blissful having my phone remain silent! If I happen to receive a call from an unrecognised number, I simply hang up and promptly add it to my block list. Why waste your time on such firms when you can just ignore them entirely?

I got a call earlier today around 1:45 from a guy with an asian accent claiming he was from BT. He wanted to know if I was the main person using the computer. I just hung up straight away.

I've just had a call from this number, and oh dear, it was a bit of a muddle! A woman on the other end, who was rather difficult to decipher, claimed she was from BT. She even mentioned my name and address, which was a tad unsettling. She began chatting about my internet connection, but before I could get any clearer details, the call simply dropped. To add to the confusion, I've received a few other calls purporting to be from BT in the past few days, which I suspect aren't genuine. Interestingly, the dialling code was Australian. Quite the puzzling situation, isn't it?
