Got a call from a guy with a foreign accent, sounded like he was working in some call centre. He asked for me by name and claimed he was from Telecom. When I queried, he gave me his name and a phone number he said belonged to Telecom. He even mentioned what he said was my licence number. Claimed there were folks trying to hack into my system and wanted me to switch on my computer. I told him to call back next Monday when I’d have a chance to check if he was legit. Not sure if he’ll bother, but I’m ready if he does!

Got a call from some bloke called 'Ric' claiming he was from BT. I was quick to tell him he was clearly a scammer and to get lost. Surprisingly, he hung up right away. I've since blocked his number to be safe.

Got a ring from this number, sounded like a bloke with an Asian accent. He claimed to be calling from BT and said there was something wrong with my internet. I told him I didn’t have any issues and asked straight if he was trying to scam me. After a pause, he just went quiet and then hung up. I was just about to mess about with him a bit!

Got a ring from this number the other day, some bloke with an Asian accent claiming he was from BT. He said there was an issue with my broadband. I told him my internet was fine and I wasn’t having any problems. He kept on going, so I cut him off and asked, "Are you trying to scam me?" He hung up straight away. Bit of a shame, I was just about to entertain myself a bit. We really need to protect people from falling for these tricks.

Just had a call from someone acting like they were from BT. I threw them off by saying it was Openreach who handled the line, not BT. Would have been interesting to keep the convo going, but hey, got other stuff to do!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, speaking with an accent. He said there were hackers messing with my phone and offered to fix it. He gave me a number to call back, 0800 800 158, which seemed legit but actually doesn't exist. Bit suspicious really, shouldve guessed because BT never ring up out of the blue to help you!

I got a call this morning around 11:30 (29/4/17) from someone claiming to be with BT, saying there are problems with my BT service. I asked her for a contact number so I could verify it and call back later. Even though the call appeared from a 0011 number, she said her number was 02032901029. I haven’t bothered to ring back. Do you think this could be a scam?

A lady with a female voice rang me up claiming she was from BT. I replied with a casual ‘oh, right’ or something like that, and then she went on again about the internet connection being from BT. I told her that was odd cos we don’t even have BT, and warned her I’d be reporting the call as a scam.

When I asked if she needed my account information, she said yes. I kind of laughed and told her that was unexpected, then ended the call straight away. Total scam, be careful!

I got a new phone that’s meant to block annoying calls and it's actually done exactly that! The only way I know the number rang was because it still shows up in my call history. If you’re thinking about getting a landline, I’d really recommend one that can block unwanted calls. Mine lets me block specific numbers or whole ranges, so I’ve set it to block anything starting with 0011 - it doesn’t matter what comes after, those calls just don’t get through. It’s made a big difference, now I only get an odd call slipping past every now and then, but my phone rarely even rings for those anymore. When a new unwanted number pops up, I just hang up straight away and add it to the block list. Honestly, these nuisance callers aren’t worth wasting your time answering!

Got a call from this number a moment ago. A woman with a weird accent, said she was from BT and somehow knew my name and where I live. She started talking about my internet, then the call suddenly dropped. I've had a few other calls recently pretending to be from BT but they definitely weren’t legit. Checking the caller ID, it shows the call came from Australia. Pretty suspicious if you ask me.
