So I supposedly called or texted this number, but I’ve got no trace of it in my phone history. Still, I got charged 98p for some service or something. I contacted EE and they said they're not sure who it belongs to or how it even happened. Luckily, they took the charge off my bill. Seems like it’s some kind of scam to me.

I noticed a fee on my recent phone bill for a pic sent as a text to this number. My carrier said the only way to stop it happening is by taking off the spending limit, which means I won’t be able to send picture texts at all. That’s alright with me since I hardly ever send pics through SMS. I can’t block the number on my phone either, cos it hasn’t shown up there at all.

10020250100 - I just got billed for 3 picture texts on one of my mobiles, even though the phone was off from about 7:29am until 12:49pm since we were in surgery at the hospital. The pics supposedly went out around 7:40am! When I contacted EE, they confirmed it was a scam and gave me a refund. There weren’t any texts, emoji or otherwise, sent from that phone at that time on that day. Honestly, we're pretty clueless about how this could've happened.

This is definitely NOT a scam. The fee happens when you try to text someone using your phone but dont have their number saved, just their email. The phone then turns the message into an MMS and adds a charge - right now it’s 43p. It also happens if you send a photo, emoji, gif, video or audio clip, or if your message is longer than 160 characters.

Not sure who was trying to ring me but the same number showed up two times yesterday 27th July, roughly 50 minutes between the calls. My phone didnt actually ring but it still charged me 40p each time. Im going to contact BT about this because its a bit dodgy.

I've noticed that this particular number is inflating my BT bill quite a bit! I've been charged over £10 just for picking up calls from it multiple times. After reaching out to BT, I managed to get them to block any future calls from this number. Interestingly, it seems I've also sent a few MMS messages to it, which I firmly stand by as not being my doing. Nevertheless, I've agreed to settle the charges for now. Quite the hassle, really!

Just a quick tip from me, Joe. On my Android phone, it actually tells me how many characters are left in a text, and if I go over, it warns that it'll change to MMS and might cost extra. But with an iPhone, you don’t get that heads-up. So, if you’re using an iPhone, you could try heading into SETTINGS, then MESSAGES, and switch off MMS there. Hopefully that saves you some hassle. My BT phone bill has been unfairly hit with more than £7 worth of charges. There are loads of 40p fees popping up every day, even though some of them happened when my phone was switched off. It's really frustrating!

I just noticed this number showing up on my BT mobile bill under the 'text' section, and it’s come with a 40p charge. Weird thing is, I have an unlimited calls and texts plan, so this doesn’t make sense at all. I’m definitely going to be asking about why this has been added to my account when I’ve got no idea where it came from. I’ve checked my phone and message logs but found nothing linked to this. Honestly, this could be worrying for everyone using the service. Stay safe out there!

So this happens when your iPhone sends a message as an email rather than a normal text, turning it into an MMS, which costs you extra. Make sure you look at how the contact is saved; if there’s an email address listed as the main point of contact, take it out to stop this from happening. Honestly, it’s just a mistake by the user, and I don’t think phone providers should have to give refunds if it’s the iPhone owner’s slip-up!

Got charged 40p for an MMS sent to this number. Turns out my iPhone couldn’t send an iMessage to my mate, so I hit ‘send as SMS’. But since the iMessage was linked to an email instead of a phone number, it ended up sending the message as an MMS to that email, which caused the fee. I reckon the number 0010020250100 is some kind of service that handles the message delivery. Checked the timestamp on the charge and it matched exactly when my friend got the email. Bit annoying really!

I got charged by 0010020250100 for sending a pic message, but the weird thing was the billing time was like 13.53 on July 12th, while the actual message was sent at 13.21, about half an hour earlier. So the bill showed a charge before I even sent it?? Really odd! I called EE about it, and they sorted it out and gave me a refund straight away.

I've been getting hit with multiple charges for these “pic messages” I never sent. Thought dumping WhatsApp would sort it, but nope. Every month I have to call Virgin to get my money back. Just the other week I had four of these charges come through all close together, so I rang Virgin again today. They told me they'll send me a capped SIM to try and block it. Fingers crossed it helps!

I’ve gotten a couple of those MMS messages too and BT ended up refunding me the 40p fees for both. At first, I thought it was my fault for sending pictures and all that, but since I didn’t actually know the number, BT just gave me the money back anyway. When I asked them how many complaints they’d had across different mobile providers, they didn’t really seem to know or bother about it. So yeah, I guess it’s down to you to sort out.

Had a look at my wife's BT mobile bill and noticed loads of 40p fees for texts sent to a certain number. Plus, there were hundreds of supposed messages sent to a relative, but they never got any of them. When I called BT, they just told me to get in touch with the Phone Pay Authority. Pretty weird situation.

I reached out to Virgin and they ended up refunding me. Just a heads up, if your wifi isn’t strong enough when you send photos on WhatsApp, it might send the pics through its main servers in the States or Canada, and then they’ll hit you with a charge. Best keep an eye on your wifi signal before you send anything!
