Like many before me, I got a call from some "David" claiming to be from the "Microsoft Windows Department" - total scam. I had a bit of fun stringing him along, pretending to start up my computer and tap the keys as he said. After dragging it out for about five minutes, I told him to "f##k off and die" and ended the call. Feels good knowing at least I didn’t waste the time of someone less suspicious than me.

I received a phone call from this number, claiming to be affiliated with Microsoft Windows. I requested that he ring me the next day, but lo and behold, he called back just three hours later! I took the liberty of reaching out to Microsoft myself, only to discover that they don’t initiate contact like that at all - it was indeed a scam. When I firmly asked him to cease calling me, he brazenly threatened to disable my computer. What a palaver!

We've recently received a call at our clinic from this number, and the person on the other end had an Asian accent, mentioning something concerning our computers. Received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, said I was downloading dangerous software and offered to fix my PC. BE WARNED, DON'T GIVE THEM ANY ACCESS! THEY'LL PUT PROGRAMS ON YOUR MACHINE THAT TRACK EVERYTHING YOU TYPE, INCLUDING SENSITIVE INFO LIKE PASSWORDS. When I mentioned I work in IT and can handle my own tech problems, he cut me off immediately! Seriously, don’t even waste time chatting - just hang up and block them!

Got a call just now, same old routine. When I asked who exactly he was talking to, he couldn’t even tell me my name. I asked, "how do you know I’ve got an issue?" and then he started getting rude before hanging up on me.

I've blocked every call from 0001, so I didn't pick up when it rang. Still, it showed up on my phone at 8:30 in the morning, which is just rude for anyone who enjoys a lie-in! Here we go once more: some bloke called John ringing up about my Windows, starting with "Good morning, how are you?" but with this dodgy Asian accent. I handed the phone over to my other half, and he basically got the same spiel, like the guy had a script right in front of him. When we told him we don’t have any Windows, the lad just went “oh” and then hung up. These calls keep popping up now and then. Total SCAM!!!

That "From Windows" bit was a pretty poor attempt. I’ve come across this scam before - honestly, I should have just told them we already got double glazing. They were after remote access to my computer and I just let them talk on for a bit. In the end, I straight up told the bloke he was a con artist. My only concern is some people might still fall for it.

This morning I got a ring from this number. My phone number is ex-directory, so I’m baffled as to how they got hold of it, especially since I only just got it through B.T. The caller didn’t leave a message or even wait for my answerphone to pick up. I only realised someone had called after I dialled 1471 by chance. It seems these scams don’t care about ‘unlisted’ numbers at all. I can imagine how upsetting this must be, especially for vulnerable folks who live on their own. It’s clear the people behind these nuisance calls have no regard for the stress they cause others.

I got a call just like what others mentioned, from someone claiming to be Windows support. I ended the call pretty quick and hung up on them. Then, the day before, I had another call, this time the person said they were with Microsoft. I cut the call off again. They were ringing from the number 0017184221281. Be careful out there!
