Some sort of Road Traffic accident helpline or something. I’m on ex directory and also signed up with TPS, yet they kept ringing from private numbers. They were on my phone up to 20 times daily. Fed up of it, I tried telling them to stop but this guy called Ricky, an Indian bloke, just told me to f##k off and said Ofcom rules don’t affect them. Had to report it to both TPS and my phone company. Eventually had to change my number to get some peace.

Since my phone doesn’t show the caller ID, I just answer every call that comes through. All the people who legitimately have my number know I never say anything first - they have to start the conversation. If they stay silent, it's obviously a spam call, so I just hang up straight away. I’ve thought about getting one of those BT8600 call blockers for about £38.99, but honestly, why bother? I’m not bothered or annoyed by these annoying robocalls, and having a couple of unsolicited calls a week isn’t really a big deal to me.

However, he didn’t make it very far into his script, as I had to interrupt him to inform him that I don’t even drive, let alone have an accident to report. I swiftly hung up and subsequently blocked the number. Given that my contact details are ex-directory and registered with the TPS, this company is clearly flouting the law, and it's high time someone took action against such nuisances. Got a call from this number last evening on my ex directory number so I reported them to: https://ico.org.uk/concerns/marketing/ The ICO can actually fine the company bosses directly, so they hold personal liability and can be pursued for the fine even if the business shuts down.
