I gave them a ring earlier to find out who our current electricity provider is. The person on the line had a pronounced Indian accent. I mentioned that our Treasurer handles these sorts of queries. There was a rather long pause, around six to eight seconds, before they abruptly ended the call!

Received a call today, 21st May 2014. I picked up with our business greeting, but there was just dead air for a good 6 to 8 seconds before they abruptly ended the call! Don't feel compelled to engage with anyone calling from this number - although you might not realise it until after the fact when you dial 1471 like I did! In light of other recent reports associated with this number, it’s glaringly apparent that it’s a total scam. We really ought to find a way to put a stop to this and block them altogether - but what’s the solution?

I got a call from some electricity broker claiming to represent all the big players in the utility sector-a company named 'Local Electricity Service'. When I probed them about their US number (001), they maintained they were a 'local' outfit here in the UK. The call was riddled with delays, and the person on the line had a strong Indian accent. It's been maddening, as I've received around three of these calls daily despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), so they’re clearly breaching the regulations. I urge everyone not to divulge any personal details to them. You could say you're tied into a five-year agreement or mention that the person who handles utilities will be unavailable until a specific date or time when you're, in fact, not around.

I received a call from someone claiming to help with viruses on my computer. When I inquired about their identity, they became quite impolite. I strongly advise against sharing any personal details with these individuals, as it's clear they're a scam operation.

Utterly atrocious! The person on the other end speaks with such a strong accent and their grasp of the language leaves a lot to be desired. Not to mention, they were rather impolite. Quite the unpleasant experience.

I received a rather confrontational call from a chap claiming to be from British Gas. He was insistent that he needed to speak to the business owner, specifically requesting the meter number for an upgrade - and he wanted it immediately. Despite my attempts to clarify that I couldn't assist him, his tone became increasingly hostile. The situation felt decidedly off. I eventually provided the meter number, but he then pressed me for additional details and became rather loud and impolite. When he asked for the owner's name, I refused and promptly hung up. They've since attempted to ring me again, both yesterday and today. Very dodgy indeed!

Received a call earlier today from someone claiming to represent EON, my local energy provider in London. It seems to be another dodgy caller trying to peddle business utilities, likely operating from outside the UK. I'm sure many can relate, as I'm inundated with two or three of these auto-dialled nuisance calls each week. It's frustrating, as the Telephone Preference Service doesn't seem to deter these sorts at all.
