I've been receiving persistent calls on my landline, only for the caller to cut off as soon as I pick up. Quite vexing, to say the least!

Received a call claiming to be from Microsoft regarding some security concerns. An Indian woman was on the line, but when I queried a bit, she abruptly hung up. Definitely sounds like a scam to me!

They didn’t bother to leave a message when the answering machine picked up the call.

I picked up a call from this number, but there was complete silence on the line. After about ten seconds of awkwardness, I got put through to some sort of redirect, which made me promptly hang up-didn’t fancy being charged for that nonsense! They attempted to ring me again a little while after, but I chose to ignore it that time.

I recently came across a rather shady character attempting to swindle my 77-year-old mother out of her banking information. He claimed to represent a so-called 'telephone preference company' that promised to block unwanted calls. Posing as a helpful service that wouldn’t cost her a penny, he nonetheless demanded her bank details. Can you believe the nerve?!
