I tend to ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers.

I had a rather bewildering experience recently with a chap whose grasp of the English language left much to be desired. He insisted that my computer was riddled with viruses, despite my attempts to explain that I was under the expert care of a well-regarded IT firm. When I refused to divulge any personal details, he had the audacity to curse at me and then abruptly end the call. It’s quite exasperating-why on earth can’t someone take action against these types of individuals?

This number has a reputation for being associated with fraudulent activity, and I have received calls from it before. Interestingly, they didn’t bother to pick up this time.

I received a call from someone claiming they needed to assist me with my computer issues. Instantly recognising the ruse, I decided to humour the chap-it was on his tab, after all. I went through the motions, and when he quizzed me about what I could see on my screen, I replied, "What I see is that this call is a scam, and you ought to be reported." The response was a rather colourful insult, to which I simply chuckled and said, "Cheers, mate! Enjoy your day!" If more folks responded in this way, perhaps they'd think twice before pulling these stunts again.

Just like many others have experienced, I had a bloke on the line claiming to be from Microsoft. He went on about how my computer was infected with a virus and insisted that I grant him VPN access to sort it out. Surprisingly, he was more than eager to assist me in selecting an antivirus subscription from his dubious offerings. It was all rather fishy. When I decided to toy with him a bit, he ended up getting annoyed and abruptly ended the call. Quite clearly, this was just another con!

I received a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming there was an issue with my computer. When I informed them that I don’t even own one, they resorted to swearing at me and then abruptly terminated the call. Absolutely ridiculous!

They seem to have your details, and they mentioned that you’re experiencing issues with your Windows computer. If you happen to mention you’re on a Mac, they’ll then claim you’re having difficulties with Safari. Quite the curious approach, isn’t it?

They seem to have your name on file and mentioned that you’re experiencing issues with your Windows setup on your computer. But if you happen to mention that you use a Mac, they immediately pivot to say you’re facing challenges with Safari instead. Quite the curious approach, isn’t it?
