They keep ringing my number over and over, only to hang up when I answer. What a nuisance!

A dubious call, indeed. It’s definitely not from the National Grid.

I can assure you, it’s not a con. The electricity providers actually have individuals who manage the sale of your power, and each one offers varying rates. My previous supplier, National Grid, was billing me £0.15 per kilowatt, whereas this new one is charging just £0.10. So, it’s definitely not a scam. You receive materials in the post; all they require is your name and address, which they can verify against the records held by the electric company online. You’ll receive all relevant documents from the new provider through the post, and your electricity rate will be adjusted accordingly.

We've been getting this call on the daily, right around lunchtime, between 12:00 and 12:30 PM. The peculiar thing is, no one ever speaks on the other end, which is quite infuriating!

The caller ID displayed “NOT IN USE,” which I find quite dodgy. I had already blocked this number last May. It’s clear they’re just a bunch of con artists.

We received a rather puzzling call from someone claiming that New York State Electric & Gas was overcharging us because they’re not officially a supplier. They mentioned a recent law that apparently states one must have a designated supplier, and apparently, NYSEG doesn’t fit that bill. It left us scratching our heads!

It's a dodgy tactic aimed at pressuring folks into changing their electricity providers.
