6 yearsI had a rather articulate lady on the line, her voice tinged with a subtle African lilt, and to my astonishment, she seemed to know both my and my wife’s full names, along with details of our shared investments. Her pitch was incredibly persuasive, laden with jargon about a potential hostile takeover, insisting they required a majority stake of 51% of our shares. She claimed they already possessed 40% and presented an enticing offer for the rest. She then asked for my email to forward the necessary documentation.
