11 yearsSo, I got a call from a 909 number after having a weird texting exchange with someone from South Carolina, their phone had an 843 area code and was T-Mobile. I had given my number to a 20 year old on some dating site, POF.com. Turns out the 909 number is a Google Voice number, so it doesn’t cost them anything and could be anyone really. Not exactly sure how T-Mobile handles those details. This guy, calling himself Investigator Lynch from some “Something-or-Other” investigations, kept telling me he’d lose his job if he didn’t pass on a message from the dad of the underage girl I was supposedly chatting with. He wanted me to pay an early termination fee on her phone to sort things out. Honestly, it felt like a classic scam designed to squeeze money from gullible guys trying online dating. Well, lesson learned.
