I got a call on my work mobile from a number that appeared to be from +537212514, which had a caller ID showing Havana. I missed the call, but then a voicemail notification popped up on my phone. Curious, I decided to listen to it, and it contained a request to ring a certain number: (202) 657-6869. When I called, a man picked up and claimed to represent the IRS. He proceeded to ask for my name, age, marital status, and other sensitive details. I chose not to divulge any of that info to him. He had a rather thick accent, and honestly, he could’ve been anything from a fraudster to something worse. Once I declined to share my details, he abruptly cut the call.
