I emphatically told them that I had nothing to do with it, and they assured me they would issue a refund and cancel my card to prevent any further unauthorised use. Being half-asleep, I answered a few innocuous questions, but then the call suddenly dropped. Given the severe weather in our region, I thought it might have been a normal occurrence. Nonetheless, I decided to ring my bank for peace of mind. Upon contacting them, I was relieved to learn that the call had nothing to do with them; it was indeed a scam. They informed me that they never make calls before 8am, and there were no suspicious charges on my account.
