In the middle of the night, like around 3:30am, I got a text from my bank saying someone had tried to link my account to a UPI ID, something I definitely never did. The message had a number to call if it wasn’t me, to stop any fraud or scams. So, I rang straight away to report it. Weirdly, the call picked up instantly - no waiting at all, like they were just sitting there ready for my call. Which genuine support number does that? I didn’t think much at first and told the person on the line that nobody else should be linking my account. He asked for my name and where I live, I gave him the info. Then it struck me - this might actually be a scammer pretending to help! I freaked out and hung up quick. Plus, the way he spoke just didn’t sound legit at all, really sketchy.

On the evening of 16th March 2013, precisely at 22:35, I received a rather peculiar phone call. When I picked up, I was taken aback to hear the sound of my own voice echoing back to me, as if I were speaking on loudspeaker. The call abruptly went silent. Moments later, at 22:39, another ring came from an anonymous number, and wouldn't you know it, I could hear my own voice again before the line went dead. Then, just a minute later at 22:40, I had yet another call, this time from +9131886307, and once again, my voice filled the line before it cut off. I attempted to send a text to the other number, but it didn’t go through. I tried the +9 number next, which seemed to send but was later marked as failed. Quite odd, really, as texts usually end up in your outbox. To say I was utterly spooked would be an understatement!
