Got a spam text a few mornings back around 5:57am, but the message wouldn’t show up. They usually keep quiet for some months, then suddenly start bugging again.

I’ve got an old Nokia handset and got a text from this number saying “message cannot be displayed” along with a message centre number. I checked with a mate who said they sent me a message exactly when I got that one (it was from abroad, outside the UK). No idea why it appeared like that though. Their other texts usually come through fine. Maybe they’re sending some messages in a format that my old phone just can’t handle.

Proper annoying, I get a couple of these each week, a text pops up but it just won’t show properly.

Watch out, that 'picture' might be some sort of malware. I get loads of dodgy ones like this. They come through on the so-called 'action fraud' messages but I never open them. Always double check that both the sender and the email address match someone you actually know.

This isnt a dodgy number, its just someone sending a pic message from their smart phone but your sim is in a basic phone. Your network keeps the image for 28 days, so if you stick your sim into a smart phone before then, you can get the photo.

Every day I get loads of messages from this person. They come through all scrambled up, probably because I’m using an old Nokia 105. Weirdly, they seem to get past my block list somehow. It’s driving me mad now. Honestly thinking about switching my number because it’s just too annoying and a bit unsettling. This number has called me twice more, making it three calls in total now. Really irritating. To the person who mentioned this on 5/6/2018, the "Message Centre" is linked to your Vodafone service. It isn’t connected to the scam caller. Have a look through your other legitimate messages, you’ll see what I mean.

Just had a rather peculiar experience at precisely 12:38 this afternoon. The message just wouldn’t show up, so, rather foolishly, I decided to give them a ring. A voice that sounded suspiciously like the Vodafone automated one informed me that I didn’t have enough credit. Naturally, I cut the call short and contacted Vodafone directly at 2345, only to discover that I’m flush with credit. Could this be yet another scam? The only time I recently shared my mobile number was just yesterday while trying to access my Facebook via SMS on my iPad, which proved fruitless. Is it possible that’s how they’ve managed to get hold of my number?

If you scroll right to the bottom, you’ll find another mobile number consisting of 11 digits. I’ve received around 6 or 7 messages from the same number - 88850100000018. The mobile number listed at the end of that garbled text doesn’t ring a bell with anyone in my contacts.
