I received a message that suggested my computer had been compromised, so I decided to make a call. They took control of my system, leaving me completely powerless until I followed their rather lengthy protocol. Interestingly, they provided me with their details, including names and identification numbers. After some time, I managed to cut off my internet connection and the phone line, shutting my computer down in the process. Once I rebooted and reconnected, that same alarming message popped up again! So, I reverted to a browser other than Chrome and, fortunately, it seems everything is functioning as it should now. Quite a frightening experience, if I’m honest!
